COMMUNICATION THROUGH CONVERSATION The Communication Action Team is excited to launch The Lakes News, a new podcast for The Lakes South Morang College. With the theme “Communication through conversation,” the podcast will share student voice, school updates, interviews, events, achievements, and stories from across our college community.

What’s happening this term?
PRIMARY Prep students will celebrate reaching 100 Days of School with dress-ups, fun activities and time spent with our Year 7 students. Students in Years 1–4 will be heading to the pool to build confidence, improve their swimming skills and develop important water safety knowledge. Year 5 and 6 students are off on camp! Get ready for exciting outdoor adventures, team challenges, new friendships and unforgettable memories. Week 6 is all about discovering, creating and experimenting! Families are invited to our Science Open Morning on Tuesday 18 August from 9:10–10:00am to experience the fantastic science learning taking place across the Primary Campus. Dress up as your favourite book character for our Book Week Parade and Assembly on Monday 31 August at 9:15am in the Primary Gym. We can't wait to see everyone's creative costumes! The Book Fair will be held on the Primary Campus from 1–8 September. It's the perfect opportunity to discover a new favourite book while supporting our school library. Throughout the Term, students will participate in a range of exciting excursions, incursions and special learning experiences that bring classroom learning to life. SECONDARY Year 7 students will celebrate reaching 100 Days of Secondary School with dress-ups, fun activities and time spent with our Prep students. Year 9 students will head into Melbourne for the annual City Experience, exploring the city's history, culture and landmarks while building independence and creating lasting memories. Students involved in Wakakirri will continue rehearsing for Roots Between Us before performing at the Clocktower Centre later this Term. Students will have the opportunity to represent The Lakes in a range of interschool sporting competitions, demonstrating teamwork, resilience and school pride. Student Leadership Teams will be running exciting lunchtime Science Week activities throughout Week 6. Keep an eye on Compass and daily notices for the full schedule. Students and staff are encouraged to dress up as their favourite book character on Monday 31 August. Book Week activities will also take place during recess. Need help with homework or a quiet place to work? Homework Club is held every Thursday at recess in the Library for Year 7–9 students. Everyone is welcome. Redemption sessions are held every Monday and Thursday after school from 3:15–4:15pm. Students should regularly check Compass to see whether they have been timetabled to attend.
