such thing as sin. If a person does not like someone or if he wants to get some kind of special attention he may go out and start shooting people. That is one small result! We have a generation that is self- centered. And so peo- ple engage in sexual activities without any caring about the con- sequence. What often follows is the shed- ding of innocent blood in abortions.

This is another of many wicked things that happen today.

Reconciliation is a big word. Its concept is im- portant. It means to reestablish a close rela- tionship between two who were estranged. Satan, God’s enemy, convinced Eve that the tree of the knowledge of good and evil was good for food. Eve knew that God said that they should not eat of that tree. Eve believed Satan and disobeyed God. She gave Adam of the fruit and indeed it was as Satan said, they gained the knowledge of evil! That knowledge also made them guilty. They tried to cover their nakedness and they were not satisfied with their efforts and then they tried to hide among the trees. They became a slave to Satan and es- tranged to God. How were these fearful rebels going to be rec- onciled to their Creator? Before they sinned, they did not need any reconciliation. But now they could no longer look forward with joy to the communion they had with God before they sinned. How could the relationship be restored between man and God? How could they be rec- onciled? Much of the Holy Bible is the story of how God unfolded His plan of redemption and reconciliation through the Blood of Jesus. This plan was put together before the world began. Following is what Peter writes. “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with cor- ruptible things, as silver and gold from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fa- thers; but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: who verily was foreordained before the founda- tion of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, Who by him do believe in God, that raised Him from the dead, and gave Him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.” (1 Peter 1:18-21.) The work of God is glorious when you con- sider what He did to reconcile us to Himself. Satan did an awful deed when he stole our hearts away from God. The bondage of sin is so very obvious all around. The power of the Gospel to change lives is as powerful as ever. However, we now have at least three genera- tions who have been publicly educated that there is no God and no Creator and that we evolved from somewhere. The fruit of that edu- cation is that people live worse than animals. Without the awareness of God or fear of God or any thought of eternal consequence, there is no

We have a generation who seem not to even think about God. They get frustrated with life so they end their own life. This is all very tragic because there is a Creator God who has paid a tremendous price to reconcile us to Himself. The story is beautiful. The life reconciled to God is a life of peace, a life with purpose, and a life devoted to helping others; a good life! Of the settlers that came to this country, many believed in God and many believed in Jesus. Those who were truly Christians were unselfish people. That Christian witness was a light to the world and a salt to the com- munity. However Satan had his agents at work and the freedom of religion allowed for many dif- ferent kinds of religions to func- tion and flourish. The economic climate was such that Christians prospered and became lax in evangelism. The multiplicity of religions confused many and truth and righteousness became clouded to the point that the enemy of God succeeded in re- moving God’s Word from public education. And we have the sad state of affairs today! The need for reconciliation re- mains the same. The plan for reconciliation remains the same. The Bible truth remains the same. I would like to encourage every reader of this column to take his Bible and read the story of Jesus and believe what Jesus teaches us. If you do not have a Bible, come to Rod & Staff and buy one. If you do not have money to buy one I will gladly give you a gift of a Bible. It is the most pre- cious book in the entire world. It
