Honors Student Unable to Read (Continued from Page 37)
A number of specific officials are named in Ortiz’s complaint. One in particular, a “special education case manager” and teacher who was supposed to help Ortiz, in- stead allegedly would “yell at, be- little, and humiliate her in front of other students and teachers,” ac- cording to the complaint. “Ortiz would frequently run to other teachers and/or administrators in tears and emotional distress,” the suit added. The case is attracting enormous public and media interest. First, local outlets picked it up. Then, the national news. The New York Post did a fairly significant story on the scandal. Even leftwing out- lets that normally defend the gov- ernment-education monopoly from criticism at all costs, such as CNN, have now jumped on the story, too.
explosive scandal. “Ortiz’s lawsuit underscores broader concerns about systemic failures in public education, particularly in provid- ing adequate support for students with learning disabilities,” wrote Associate Editor Ashley Parks. “The case has drawn attention to how academic achievement is measured and whether special ed- ucation students are truly receiv- ing the skills they need to succeed beyond high school.” Colleges are now under the mi- croscope, too. “Additionally, it raises questions about how col- leges assess applicants, especially those facing severe academic chal- lenges,” continued Parks in her Newsweek piece about the scan- dal, noting that Ortiz was admitted to a major government university and even received a scholarship despite being completely illiterate.
Lawmakers are expressing grave concerns, too. “The student was allegedly denied services — over 12 years — due to lack of funding and roadblocks to learning at many levels,” wrote Senate Minority Leader Stephen Harding and Sen. Eric Berthel, apparently oblivious to the massive tax funding for this fraud. “We continue to seek ac- countability as to how this student was illiterate when she graduated and how the system failed her year after year.” The new lawsuit in Connecticut comes as purveyors of quackery posing as “reading” and “literacy” instruction are facing similar legal troubles in Massachusetts. As documented by The Newman Re- port in December, a public-interest law firm is suing various institu- tions, publishers, and individuals involved in crippling generations of American students with the same
discredited teaching methods.
The government school district is not commenting on the case, cit- ing the ongoing litigation. Its attor- neys requested more time to file a response and answer the com- plaint. If Ortiz succeeds, it could open the floodgates as millions of government-school victims with whole word-induced dyslexia file suit. Why parents continue to let their children suffer in government “schools” that fail to teach even the most basic of the basics remains a mystery. However, forcing taxpay- ers to hand over even more money to the tens of millions of victims will do nothing to remedy this hor- rific, systemic problem. Nothing short of radical change will suffice to address this national catastro- phe.

UK Toddler Kicked Out Of Nursery For Being ‘Transphobic’
By Helen Scambler April 2025
Figures only began in the 2020-21 academic year.
A child in the UK, aged either three or four, was suspended for “abuse against sexual orientation and gender identity,” data from the Department for Education (DfE) showed. The incident took place during the 2022-23 aca- demic year at a state school, according to the Tele- graph. Further details of the case were not disclosed. In the same academic year, 94 pupils at state pri- mary schools were suspended or permanently ex- cluded for transphobia and homophobia.
Director of the Free Speech Union, Lord Young, said: “It beggar’s belief that schools are suspending children as young as five for breaching their ‘trans- phobia’ policy. “I would have thought that if your ideology is so rigid it justifies you punishing toddlers for not com- plying with it, that’s a powerful argument for discard- ing it in favor of something less dogmatic.” A DfE spokesman said: “All pupils and staff should feel safe and protected at school and should never face violence or abuse. “The Education Secretary has been clear that she expects school leaders to enforce good behavior and we are committed to a comprehensive program of behavior support for schools. “Our Plan for Change sets out our relentless focus on making sure every child gets the best life chances, no matter their background, including es- tablishing free breakfast clubs in every primary school, providing access to mental health support and making attendance one of the four core priori- ties of our school improvement teams.”
Ten of which were from year one and three were from year two, where the maximum age is seven.
Helen Joyce, director of advocacy at Sex Matters, told the paper: “Every once in a while, the extremes of gender ideology throw up a story that seems too crazy to believe, and a toddler being suspended from nursery for so-called ‘transphobia’ or homo- phobia is one such example. “Worse still, this is not an isolated case. Apparently 13 four- and five-year-olds were suspended or per- manently excluded from school for the same rea- son.
“Teachers and school leaders involved in this in- sanity should be ashamed of themselves for pro- jecting adult concepts and beliefs onto such young children. “It’s unforgivable for children’s vital early education to be so traumatically disrupted by school leaders who prioritize activists’ demands over their charges’ wellbeing.”
The number of pupils expelled or suspended for homophobic or transphobic behavior across all state primary schools increased from 164 in 2021-22 to 178 in 2022-23. The area with the largest number of suspensions and exclusions in the year 2022-23 was Essex, with 16, closely followed by 15 in Birmingham, 11 in Bradford and eight in Norfolk.
