NEW ENGLAND REGIONAL EDITION

DECEMBER 2023

MADD Family,

As 2023 draws to a close, and with the holiday season upon us, MADD New England Staff can reflect on our challenges, and successes over the course of the year, fully confident that we did our best to provide needed services to victims, while providing resources, and educational programming to our schools, and communities. While we did our best, we know there is so much more needed to fight the tremendous increase in the number of fatal crashes involving drugs, and alcohol realized over the past year. The trend, for the first time in over a decade, is moving in the wrong direction. As we reflect and give thanks, we are also prepared to do more in a concerted effort to reverse the trend. We thank, first and foremost, our volunteers, who give so graciously of their time, creativity, and fortitude. Our jobs are made so much easier by those who use their free time to assist MADD throughout the New England Region, in our fight to end drunk driving and the senseless loss of innocent lives. Without the continued support of our Mission Partners: Mohegan Sun, Trantolo & Trantolo, Fundación MAPFRE, Buckley Wynne, Parese, Uber and CMRK, Inc., the work we do to save lives, helps those in need, and provide education so that one day there will be No More Victims, simply would not be possible. We look forward to meeting the increasing challenges in 2024, strategically positioned to meet the challenges head on, Together , to do what we do, Fight to end drunk driving and Save Lives! On behalf of MADD New England’s dedicated, outstanding, tireless staff, and our State Advisory Boards, I wish you and your loved ones a Happy, Healthy, and Safe, Holiday Season and a most Prosperous New Year!

Happy Holidays!

Bob Garguilo Regional Executive Director – New England

MADD/NHTSA Region 1 Law Enforcement Impaired Driving Summit October 11, 2023

NHTSA Region 1

Impaired Driving Toolkit: A Law Enforcement Leader’s Guide To Saving Lives

MADD staff, law enforcement and community partners from all over NHTSA Region 1 gathered together on October 11, 2023 for an Impaired Driving Summit. Topics included victim spotlights, equity in traffic safety, law enforcement support programs, case preparation and courtroom testimony, drug evaluation and classification, and law enforcement leadership.

If you are a member of law enforcement and are interested in the information shared at the summit, contact your local MADD office for more information.

The Summit and new Law Enforcement Toolkit were made possible by the NHTSA funded Cooperative Agreement Project

MADD New England is grateful for all of the continued support it receives throughout the year. Without our sponsors, community partners, victims and survivors, we could not continue the fight against impaired driving in hopes of creating a future of No More Victims.
