T he challenges facing converters and the emerging technical trends that are impacting their businesses are among the key topics that will be addressed at the fourth FINAT European Label Forum, which will take place in Dublin, Ireland, from June 6-8. The opening morning will begin with The Elephant In The Room: Brexit And Its Implications For EU/UK B2B Relations given by Alastair Campbell best known for his role as former British Prime Minis- ter Tony Blair’s spokesman, press secretary and direc- tor of communications and strategy. An Irish Market Review will be provided by Gavin Killeen, Managing Director of Nuprint Technologies Ltd. in Derry, Northern Ireland; and a European Label Market Update will be provided by Jules Leje- une, Managing Director of FINAT (EU). Andy Thomas, Strategic Director at Tarsus Labels & Packaging Group (GB), will explain how the scope of the labels and packaging world has been evolving over time and presents an outlook for the coming 3-5 years in Remapping The Increasingly Wider World Of Labels & Packaging — General Overview Of The Current And Future Landscape . Keran Turakhia, author of “if packaging could talk”, Director of Hive IP ltd and founder of iPackaging Ex- pertise Ltd, will discuss how to Liberate The True Value In Digital Packaging . Thursday afternoon will feature parallel business learning sessions. Attendees will be able to choose two from the six offerings that best meet their needs and interests.The sessions include: • Going Digital — Challenges And Opportunities From Converter And Brand Owner Perspectives . Jen- nifer Dochstader and David Walsh of LPC Inc. will pro- vide an update of the findings of the FINAT report about the state of affairs in digital label printing, including new data and information about digital labels from a Euro- pean brand perspective. • Brand Protection, Product Authentication And Similar Issues . James Bevan of Vandagraf will cover the latest developments in security brand protection and anti-counterfeit technologies, including taggants and forensic markers, as well as connected packaging. • A Food Labels Panel of Experts consisting of Jakob Abildgoard of Dan Labels, Robert Rae of GEW and Niklas Olsson of Flint Group will share the benefits of expanding market scope, using narrow web con- verting for indirect food packaging. The panel will also touch on European legislative demands for la- bels, as well as an update on the latest technologies for UV curing.
