Guardian Angel Are you the next OF S T. MI CHAE L CATHOL I C H I GH SCHOOL ? The Guardian Angel program was formed in the fall of 2017 by a group of concerned donors and priests. Many of these donors were raised in Catholic schools by the sisters and brothers and wanted to give back. They began supplementing the tution payments for a limited number of students and hoped to expand the number of donors so as to support more Catholic families. Many Catholic families want their teenagers to attend St. Michael Catholic High School, but some cannot afford the tuition...they need a “guardian angel.”
By donating to the Guardian Angel Fund, you entrust St. Michael Catholic High School and our Baldwin County pastors to disperse funds as needed. The recipients will not know who their donor will be, only that a “guardian angel” is helping him or her. BECOME A Guardian Angel TODAY!

SCHOLARSHIP
Dear Parents, Students, Guests and Fans,
Welcome to St. Michael Catholic High School, home of the Cardinals! If the pandemic has taught us anything, it’s to be grateful for things we once took for granted, such as the ability to represent our school in athletic competitions, the opportunity to cheer for our children and our classmates, and the blessing of gathering together to celebrate with our communities. As nothing is “for sure” this year, may we view each and every occasion to compete this year as a “gift” to cherish, and may we cheer for our teams with great enthusiasm and pride! We ask that during our games, you follow all protocols established by the Alabama Department of Public Safety, especially:
Faustin Weber, Principal
• Wearing face masks at all times, inside and outside at games.
• Distancing from people outside your family by 6 feet in every direction
If we do those two things, perhaps we can move up the timetable when the virus becomes a thing of the past.
Thank you for your support!
GO CARDINALS! Faustin Weber Principal, St. Michael Catholic High School
Hello Cardinal fans,
Welcome to St.Michael CatholicHigh School. It is hard to believe we are starting our fifth year of athletic competition. As you know, the world is a little different today than it was in previous years. Our athletes, coaches, staff, & volunteers have worked tirelessly to get to a point where we can allow our students to play. Athletics are meant to be joyous. As we all deal with our new protocols to attend games I ask you to please remember we are here to watch our children enjoy themselves on the field. Please support them in a positive manner. I also thank you in advance for your cooperation by following the guidelines we have laid out for attending athletic competitions. Our campus is alive with activity. All of our teams have been working since June toprepare for this season. Iwould like to thank all of our coaches for the work they have done to get their squads ready for this season. You may have also seen the progress we have made on our new field house. The new locker rooms, training room, and weight roomwill give our young programs a new home soon. We are grateful to everyone who has contributed to the capital campaign. We start this school year with 21 varsity teams, 14 junior varsity teams, 1 freshman team, and 2 middle school teams who will all compete for St. Michael. We have come a long way from our first season in 2016 when we only had 9 junior varsity teams. This season we have added boys golf, girls golf, and softball to our athletic program. We have also moved up to the 4A division in the AHSAA. We have also added to our athletic staff to help support these programs. Coach Scott Phelps is our new assistant athletic director and Jill Roh has joined our staff as well. Mrs. Roh will work closely with our Booster Club to help support all of our athletic teams. Thank you for your support of Cardinal Athletics. Our athletic programs would not be possible without the support of our boosters, corporate sponsors, and the families in our community. All of the sponsors represented in this media guide have committed to furthering Catholic education in the Archdiocese of Mobile and specifically in Baldwin County. Please support their businesses whenever possible. Their contributions have helped our teams in many ways. Please enjoy the game. Again, these are exciting times at St.Michael Catholic High School. On behalf of our administration, teachers, coaches, and student athletes I would like to thank you again for your support of the St. Michael athletic programs. We will always strive for excellence both on the field and in the classroom. We look to build on the great foundation that was laid in our first four years.

Holly Murray • Head Coach
As of May 2015, Coach Murray has been, and currently is, the sailing director and coach at the Fairhope Yacht Club located in Fairhope, Alabama. She has been a sailing instructor throughout the Gulf Coast area since the age of seventeen. Sailing has been a vessel for her to coach in different parts of the country, from coaching at the New York Sailing School to sailing and coach at the Southern Yacht Club in Louisiana. Coach Murray was born and raised on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi where she found her
passion in sailing as a child. In her young
adult life, Holly had the opportunity to sail with former Olympic Sailor Eugene Walet in various national, district and local regattas. The success of Coach Murray’s career has provided her many opportunities to represent what sailing means to her with being the first female Commodore of the Long Beach Yacht Club, Commodore of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Yachting Association, and the GYA representative to the US Sailing Association.

We want our students to “go for it,” to extend themselves beyond their comfort zones, to delve deeper into their studies, to try out for teams (even if not selected), to join new clubs, to serve others in new ways, and to strive for excellence. In so doing, we believe students will grow into young men and women who are good, happy, confident in their futures, and ready to lead others to what is holy and true. Infused with optimism, immersed in a culture of excellence, blessed by teachers who care about students and lift them up when they stumble, and elevated by a dynamic Catholic faith, may St. Michael help form great hearts and minds to do great things! BOYS BOWLING
Sports photography by John Rapier, Colonial Photography
BOWLING
Rita Treutel is in her inaugural season with the athletic department at St. Michael. She has been teaching English at St. Michael for the past three years. Hoping to draw on the experience gained from that one bowling class she took while at Auburn University, she stepped in this year to work with the boys’ and girls’ bowling teams despite having little background in athletics. She muddled her way through the season, coaching the team to few wins but to much greater acceptance of their teammates and themselves, as athletes and human beings. Rita Treutel • Head Coach
Treutel committed herself to creating an energetic, non-judgmental, and caring environment in which players could explore their bowling acumen and enjoy the camaraderie that comes with team play. Team members impressed Treutel with their work ethic, dedication to the game, consistently improving scores, ranch fry eating skills, and enthusiastic support of one another. Treutel, a Fairhope native, joined the faculty of St. Michael after having spent nearly two decades teaching at the university level. Between leaving UAB and arriving at St. Michael, she taught
English and coached at Locust Fork High School where she led the boys’ varsity baseball team to a Blount County Championship. Treutel lives in Spanish Fort with her husband, Bill. They have three children, Philip, Andrew, and Sarah Beth, a 2020 St. Michael graduate. She looks forward to working with St. Michael bowlers in the future.
