It’s hard to truly define what a home is because it’s different for everybody. Whether it’s the town you were born in or the town you retire to, a home can take many shapes, but one thing’s for certain: You’ll know home when you feel it. It’s safe to say that a home is the place you never really leave, no matter how far you travel in life. For me, that place is Omaha. After moving here in 1992, we’ve had the pleasure of setting roots that have blossomed into a life I can be proud of. There’s just no place like it. Through our firm here at LeRoy Peterson Law, I’ve had the unique opportunity to see just about every walk of life this city has to offer, and I’ve walked out the other side with more friends than I can count. With my family by my side, we’re proud to wake up every day and do what we can to better our community. We’d just like to thank you for making it all possible. My wife and I are both originally from Kearney, where we spent our formative years. From playing sports to running with my friends, I have no shortage of fond memories there. There’s something to be said about the beauty of small Midwestern towns— I should know — but opportunity was what brought us to Omaha in 1992. Almost immediately, we fell in love with the community, and it was here we were lucky enough to start raising our family. We’ll always be grateful for what this city gave back to us. Both our daughters were born and raised right here in Omaha, eventually growing up through the public school system and graduating from Burke High School. Our community has afforded them the best that life can offer. They made friendships and connections they keep to this day, just like their parents. The Place We Call Home My Life in Omaha
Today, with the girls all grown up and moved out of the house, my wife and I enjoy the same pleasures we always have. We love spending our days with our friends soaking up the Nebraskan sun (now that it is finally here) and having a chat on a restaurant patio. The sights and sounds of Omaha keep drawing us back. The more I think about it, the more I realize that the day we moved here was the day we moved here for life. Our firm, our family of friends, and our clients have made every day here more enjoyable than the last. That’s something we wouldn’t trade for the world. My travels have taken me all over the country, and I’ve had plenty of time to see what the rest of this country has to offer. Yet, there’s nothing I’d rather do than stay put and give back to the community that has so graciously given everything to us. I am fortunate enough to speak often at the local Alzheimer’s Association events and some of our wonderful local churches and civic organizations. That’s when I truly feel happiest. There’s just nothing quite like being part of a family as close as Omaha’s — no matter how much the summertime heat makes us dread going out. Well, the winters
aren’t much better, but at least we have our health. Spoken like a true Nebraskan.
At the end of the day, these are just a few of the reasons I’ve made my home here in Omaha. The sights, sounds, and feelings are enough to keep me getting up every morning and working where I love most.
