8. Manage and deliver the annual Long Term Maintenance Plan (LTMP) comprising a range of projects totalling £4.2m for 2021/22. . Input will include identifying the most appropriate design solution based on the KU Estates Strategy through to handover of the completed project to the relevant Campus Services Manager. 9. Ensure KUSCO, on behalf of KU, fully manage the relevant Statutory Compliance obligations and, at all times, have in place detailed, relevant and appropriate remedial works programmes. As part of process engage with third party to provide annual Compliance audit and monthly audits. 10. Manage KUSCO Health and Safety responsibilities and report to Senior Management Team on regular basis any and all issues arising and mitigating actions implemented to safeguard staff and visitors to KUSCO. Chair internal KUSCO Health and Safety meetings. 11. Ensure the Permit to work system is delivered in accordance with the University and legislation. 12. Lead on procurement for service contracts and be the contract manager for the high value contracts. 13. Manage all budgets within the responsibility of the role. 14. Lead the department for all HR responsibilities, appraisal, performance management, training and developing roles for succession planning. 15.Undertake project handovers from the Client and also provide technical support for the University when these are developed. 16.Provide board reports as required and also attend the required meetings. 17.To undertake any other duties as appropriate within their competence, as required by their line manager from time to time. Context This is a senior lead role providing high quality specialist professional and technical management advice and oversight to internal teams, external service providers and senior colleagues across KU Departments. As the Director of Technical Services the role will include working with the Managing Director to develop the long term strategy for the KUSCO business to ensure areas of high risk are managed and mitigated through effective programmes and processes. The role is designed to ensure the technical assets within KU are managed to deliver the most effective and cost efficient services to the KU Estate. A proactive approach around the four main areas of responsibility will create a critical service to KUSCO. With a spend of c.£5.5m through general maintenance and Long Term Maintenance Plan the role will drive the development of systems and procedures to ensure all required services are delivered efficiently in the most cost effective manner. The role will also include the management of traditional maintenance related contracts and some minor building works activities carried out by third party organisations. The post holder will participate in the strategic planning, costing, budgeting, communication and implementation of initiatives for new services. They will be a key member of the KUSCO Senior Management Team (SMT) and provide leadership to the team members, maintaining focus on the departmental and University wide strategic goals.
