media outlets lack the resources to investigate and report on trafficking thoroughly. A more in-depth approach is necessary to perpetuate effective responses and garner support for stronger policies to address all aspects of trafficking in persons (TIP). Moving forward, it is imperative despite severe resource constraints to try and adopt a more nuanced and balanced approach to reporting on human trafficking. This entails amplifying diverse voices, providing context to individual stories, and prioritizing investigative journalism that exposes the root causes and systemic failures perpetuating trafficking. By doing so, the media can empower audiences to engage critically with the issue, advocate for meaningful change, and contribute to the collective efforts to combat human trafficking and support survivors.
