Death and Dying

There are many advantages to living a long life. I have enjoyed watching my kids grow up, seeing grandkids born, and now meeting all the great-grandchildren. When I was younger, I used to perform mostly weddings; now I mainly get invited to do funerals. At my last funeral, I said, I think I’ve got more friends in heaven than I have on earth because I have lived so long. My list of friends on earth is getting shorter, and my name is moving up higher on the list all the time. That can only mean one thing; I’m getting closer to Home every day, and I’m thankful for that. However, there are also some disadvantages to living so long. Several years ago, we built an extension on our house so Millie and I could live on one end of the house and our daughter, Linda, and her husband, Rick, could live on the other end. They were such a great help for the five years they lived with us. Then one day Linda was diagnosed with cancer. We watched Linda slowly go downhill, and one day the Lord called her Home. That’s difficult to face. You usually think of your children burying you,
