Chapter 1
Keep Going! It’s Not Over
As you get older, it’s easy to coast to the finish line and do absolutely nothing but sit around. But as long as we are here, God has a reason and a purpose for us. So, keep fighting, keep moving, and keep trusting God. Don’t live in the past. You can’t do what you used to do. At your current age, you can’t expect to do the same things you did when you were 20, 30, 40, 50 or 60, and there is nothing wrong with accepting you are older and retired. If you stop and think of it, it is actually a blessing because now you can enjoy your children, your grandchildren and even your great-grandchildren. Don’t be afraid to say you are retired. You’re not giving up. You are just going to find new things to do. You’re going to keep going for the glory of God. You just need to find new ways to serve the Lord day by day. You keep fighting. Look for small things you can do. Find the new things that God has equipped you to do so you can keep fighting. Psalm 37 contains some verses I’ve used as a guideline in my life. Although these apply to everybody at any age, they matter even more as we get older.
