A SEASONAL WARDROBE SHIFT How to Keep Your Wool Clothing Pristine

When the seasons change, our wardrobes usually change as well. Our shorts, short- sleeved shirts, and bathing suits go into the closet or attic, and our jackets and sweaters become a part of our everyday attire. Ideally, you had your warmer clothes cleaned before you put them away for the summer, but you might be unsure after all these months. We put out a request last year asking you to return hangers and were amazed by your response! So many people returned hangers, but we still need more as the shortage continues. Thank you to all who have returned hangers recently! Please, keep up the good work! Thanks for Returning Them! THE HANGER SHORTAGE CONTINUES

If you had your clothes cleaned by us, there should be a telltale sign whether they’re clean or not. Give your sweaters a pinch, and you should feel tissue paper if we cleaned them before you put them into storage. If specific items don’t have tissue paper, you should bring them to us for cleaning before you wear them again. Now that cold weather is on the horizon, many of us are pulling our wool sweaters and slacks out to help keep us warm. Wool is an incredibly unique fabric that requires extra care to keep its shape and stay as pristine as the day you bought it. The first thing you should understand about wool is that it needs time to recover after every wear. With clothing made from other materials, you can usually wear them day after day without having to worry about the garment stretching or losing its shape. Wool is a different story. It’s best to wait at least

24 hours between wears when it comes to your wool clothing to avoid distorting the shape of the item. When you remove wool clothing, you shouldn’t ball it up for the laundry, fold it up, or even hang it on a hanger, as folding it will cause creases, and hanging will make it stretch. Place it over the back of a chair or flat surface to give it time to breathe before you fold it. And don’t feel like you need to wash it after every wear. Wool has natural antibacterial and odor-resistant properties that help it stay clean. If your wool garments become stained or develop an odor, then it’s time for a cleaning. Wool garments have particular care instructions you need to follow carefully if you plan to clean them yourself, but you can always bring them to us, and we’ll take care of it for you!
