THE STRATEGIC APPROACH
Placemaking is built on foundations of understanding our built assets and shared spaces in their entirety. By using consultancy Village Well’s ‘5 Ps of place-based placemaking: place, people, planet, product, and programs, we will evaluate where and how our places are acquired, developed, maintained, supported and perform. By integrating place-based thinking, resourcing and approaches, and a model of empowerment our housing initiatives will be responsive, sustainable, and beneficial to residents and the broader community long term. Our placemaking strategy is a guide for Housing Choices, our partners and stakeholders to ensure we put people and place first, empower residents, create loved and cared-for places, and measure and demonstrate impact.
VOICES
Over 110 people provided valuable lived experiences and expertise. This included over 70 sta from multiple departments, residents from diverse backgrounds, and key stakeholders such as government partners, architects, First Nations representatives, and support service agencies.

Housing Choices leadership approve production of a National Placemaking Strategy.
Housing Choices and Village Well plan and facilitate 7 engagement workshops with sta, residents, and stakeholders to share knowledge and understand placemaking aspirations, challenges, barriers, and opportunities.
Placemaking strategy definition, aim, and pillars created.
Capacity building, partnership and relationship development with increased interest, enthusiasm and commitment to engage in placemaking and support residents and communities to thrive.
Placemaking Strategy is completed, aligns with Housing Choices 5-Year Strategic Plan.
