Yusen Logistics (UK) Sustainability Report 2023

OUR NEXT STEPS

We will further promote sound, transparent and efficient management, take on the challenge of providing high-quality services and creating new value, and further strengthen our governance in order to continue to be a reliable partner for our various stakeholders, including our suppliers. Furthermore, we will continue to work on providing a consistent service level and building a stronger management system that responds to risk by ensuring that our business partners understand the quality of our services. We will also develop and build a corporate governance system that ensures further management transparency. In 2017, we established a global quality policy and are working to improve safety, quality and efficiency through a company-wide quality management system. In the event of a defect, we thoroughly investigate the root cause at all sites and take measures to prevent recurrence. We offer a combination of insurance cover for various risks, so that our customers can use our services with even greater peace of mind. In terms of quality management, Yusen Logistics UK has been recertified to ISO 9001 (quality management), ISO 14001 (environmental management) ISO 28000 (security management), and ISO 45001 (H&S management) certifications as third-party quality certifications and is to acquire ISO 50001 (energy management) certification in the environmental field. In the area of supplier management, we have established various services in cooperation with our suppliers. We want to fully share the content and quality level of our services with our suppliers, address social issues such as the environment, and continue to be the company of choice for both parties. In order to promote these efforts as an end-to-end due diligence, we conduct supplier surveys and regularly review our supplier code of conduct.

In addition to our global risk management programme, we have a UK-specific risk management programme for the early detection and avoidance of management risks, which enables us to make more detailed and quicker business management decisions, and we report to management using the more visible POWER BI dashboard and in corporate governance, we have clarified the structure of the Yusen Logistics UK’s Company Executive Committee (Company Executive Committee), and the statutory board and are in the process of updating our Article of Association accordingly. Finally, on compliance, we have already implemented an internal audit system, whistle-blowing system, external evaluation and compliance training for all colleagues, including management. We will also build a system to comply with the European and UK Sustainability Disclosure Requirements Regulations, which are scheduled to come into force from 2025.
