Theron A. Hightower Southwestern Province Polemarch
T he Southwestern Inc. is still surviving three national crises of 2020. First with the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic and then with Hurricanes Laura and Delta hitting the Gulf Coast back-to- back. Province of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, In an effort to protect the members of the Southwestern Province, under the guidance of the Grand Polemarch and Grand Board of Direc- tors, the Province took the appropriate steps and canceled all gatherings and events to deter the spread of COVID-19. As the Province was bracing for a second wave of COVID-19, Hurri- canes Laura and Delta hit the Gulf Coast and the hardest hit was the cities of Lake Charles, DeRidder and Leesville, LA. sponsored community meals in Lake Charles as a part of Hurricane and COVID-19 relief. The Province continues its efforts to protect its membership by following the advice of the CDC; washing our hands nu- merous times for at least 20 seconds per wash, maintain the prescribed distances whenever we come in contact with others and simply wear- ing a mask whenever out in public. To continue handling the business of Kappa and in order to simply stay in contact with each other, chapters and brothers are transitioning to virtual meetings. We pray daily for the blessing that we can once again be a social, face-to-face, organization.

Little Rock (AR) Alumni Chap- ter members delivered cases of bottled water to Meadowcliff Elementary School, Little Rock, AR. Because water fountains could not be used at the school because of the Coronavirus Pan- demic, the chapter purchased and delivered water for the

Members of the Pearland-Manvel-Fresno (TX) Alumni Chapter worked with the Houston Food Bank to distribute over 1300 meals to senior citizens and other members of the community during Thanksgiving and COVID-19 community relief efforts.
