E. Delane Rosemond, Esq. Southeastern Province Polemarch T he Southeastern Province and the entire country have been dealing with life that has taken a dramatic change since the COVID-19 pandemic took the nation by storm resulting in extraordinary measures be- ing instituted in March 2020 to keep us all safe. With guidelines from the U.S Centers for Disease Control and Pre- vention (CDC) and local governments to wear face coverings, social distance, wash hands regularly, work from home if possible, and avoid large crowds to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. The Southeastern Province quickly realized that “business as usual” was no lon- ger an option. Southeastern Province Polemarch E. Delane Rosemond, Esq., and his leadership team were a calming presence during this time of challenge and uncertainty. Province Polemarch Rosemond informed the chapters and brothers around the province as quickly as he could that he was convinced that, together, we have the resilience and resourcefulness in this province to get through. While still under local “stay at home” orders in the province during the early days and weeks of the pandemic, it became clear to Province Polemarch Rosemond that he needed to post- pone the 2020 Southeastern Province Council and, taking direction from Grand Polemarch Reuben A. Shelton III, Esq. and Kappa Alpha Psi Inter- national Headquarters, to discontinue all in-person activities. As the message spread across the Southeastern Province to avoid gathering in large groups, the chapters across the province adapted and adjusted to the new normal by put-

ting technology to use as virtual meet- ings became the standard to continue Kappa business. Province Polemarch Rosemond acknowledged that the type of work ethic brothers displayed in overcoming this unprecedented ob- stacle is admirable and he commends the efforts to achieve the ultimate goal of serving the communities in which we live. During this age of coronavirus, chapters in the Southeastern Province mentored Kappa Leaguers virtually, provided scholarships virtually, as well as donated food and helped register voters using social distancing measures, and continued to positively impact the lives of thousands in spite of the adversity they faced. The Southeastern Province was able to virtually conduct its 2020 Southeastern Province Council in August 2020 as well as virtually put on its 2020 C. Rodger Wilson Leader- ship Conference in September 2020. Across the province, the challenges that came with the pandemic forced every- one into an uncertainty that they had never experienced but with fortitude and the unwavering desire to serve the communities in which they live, broth-
ers and chapters all across the province continued to be there for others when they most needed it. Delane Rosemond, Esq. virtually addressing the membership and gives his appreciation to the chap- ters for adjusting as needed to pull off a monumental event such as this very first virtual Southeastern Province Council.
