Coping with the Pandemic
S ince March 2020, the pandemic has changed the norms for every human on the planet. However, the Northern Province has continued to do the work and business of Kappa while focusing on the health and mental well- being of our members. Since the begin- ning of the pandemic, the Northern Province has held a weekly Brotherhood Check-In and Prayer Video Confer- ence. This provides a forum for Broth- ers to call in and share what is going on in their lives, share their prayer needs, and just fellowship. The video confer- ences have provided a much-needed outlet for Brothers and are anticipated by the participants each week. By year of initiation, each Brother is allowed an opportunity to speak and share whatever they desire. We then end the call with prayer. During this past Founders’ Day, we had over 200 Brothers on a Zoom Call just fellowshipping, toasting to the Fraternity, and demonstrating the “Good ‘Ole Kappa Spirit”!
have been fortunate to either defeat COVID or have not contracted the virus, we have not forgotten about the many Brothers we have lost during this pandemic. The Northern Province has experienced several deaths due to CO- VID; however, we found ways through virtual memorial services to honor our fallen Brothers to give them proper Kappa farewells. Each Chapter has continued to conduct fraternity meetings via video confer- ence monthly and continued to serve the community. Many Chapters, in a socially distant safe manner, led food distribution drives, delivered care bas- kets for Senior Brothers, supported the 2020 Presidential Election, and held many other social activities virtually to keep Brothers and our patrons engaged. This pandemic has not been easy for any of us; however, the Northern Province has just continued to do what Kappas do, and that is achieve .
