Bertram K. Orum Southern Province Polemarch
Greetings Brothers, A s we continue to be impacted by the Coronavirus, our prayer continues to be for comfort to those who have been afflicted and comfort for the families of those who have lost their lives due to this dreadful disease. The Southern Province is sad- dened by each of our Brothers who have transitioned to Chapter Invisible, “we’ll long for thee and toil for thee until we reach that golden shore.” Brothers, please consider taking the Coronavirus vaccine when you get the opportunity to be vaccinated. Though it seems like there’s a new challenge each day, i.e. the Pandemic, political turmoil, social injustice and inequality, the Brothers of the Southern Province continue to strive to make a difference in the communities in which we live and work. Our chapters and membership were very active in the 2020 Presidential campaign, we registered new voters and supported various get-out-to vote initiatives. Brother Gustavo Guzman, Junior Province Vice Polemarch-Florida, is to be commended for initiating the Fraternities, “Get-Out-to-Vote Tee Shirt Initiative.” I invite each of you to join us each Monday, Wednesday and Friday morn- ings at 8:30 AM EST/ 7:30 AM CST for our “Morning Devotional” facili-
tated by Province Chaplin Brother Dr. Michael R. Moore. The call-in num- ber for our devotional service is 605- 313-5743/331598#. We meet for 30 minutes and fellowship as Brothers in lifting the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The Southern Province and all of our undergraduate and alumni chapters meet regularly virtually to take care of the business of Kappa Alpha Psi. Our Junior Province Vice Polemarchs have convened virtual meetings with Province Undergraduate to address undergraduate issues and concerns. The Southern Province has adapted to the new virtual environment and we’ve strengthened our commitment to “Achievement in Every Field of Human Endeavor.”
