Victoria Home Stories Summer 2025

Every year we celebrate the creativity and care our residents put into their gardens through our Spring Garden Competition. We had some amazing entries this year and we’re delighted to introduce the winning gardens and the residents who brought them to life. Spring Gardening Competition winners

Best Indoor Sanctuary – Irene (above) At 96 years young Irene has created a peaceful indoor garden filled with greenery and personal touches. Her indoor sanctuary celebrates two of her greatest loves; her family and the Richmond Football Club, with family photos and Richmond coloured pots featured throughout the garden.

Best Outdoor Oasis – Nanette (right and centre-right) Nanette has transformed her inner city balcony into her first ever garden, filled with succulents, flowers and colourful ornaments, which according to Nanette you can never have enough of! Nanette’s garden attracts many bees and birds and gives her a meaningful connection to nature in the heart of the CBD. Best Veggie Garden – Manija & North Melbourne Community Garden (above) Manija finds joy and calm in tending the North Melbourne Community Garden, where residents grow herbs and flowers. She loves the steady rhythm of gardening and the reminder that growth takes time, patience and care.
