Celadon Leases Space For Recycling Plant

Celadon Development Corp. LLC plans to lease 37 acres of land from Port Tampa Bay inTampa Bay, Florida, to construct a paper and cardboard recycling plant. Port Tampa Bay Board of Commissioners has announced that it has approved the lease agreement with Celadon De- velopment Corp. Celadon Development Corp. LLC is a partnership between Nicollet Industries and New Jersey-based Kamine Develop- ment Co., which are businesses that are focused on green infrastructure and sustainable development. The Celadon facility will receive and process mixed pa- per, old corrugated containers (OCC) and plastic scrap sourced from Florida to produce paper fiber sheets for ex- port to Asia. Global Secondary Copper Output Declines In 2020 The International Copper Study Group (ICSG), in its pre- liminary final data for 2020, has found that secondary cop- per production globally declined by 4.5 percent in 2020 compared with the year before.The ICSG cites “tight scrap supply” worldwide as one reason for the secondary output reduction in a year when overall refined copper output grew by 1.5 percent. The government of China also imposed a red metal scrap import quota system in the first 10 months of 2020, result- ing in a situation where companies there that usually melt copper or brass scrap instead purchased secondary ingots or even primary cathode. In terms of global copper inventory at the end of Feb- ruary 2021, ICSG said copper held at the warehouses of major metal exchanges totaled more than 285,000 metric tons, a 13 percent increase over the inventory level at the end of 2020. BioMRF Tech- nologies, a provider of waste management solutions, now offers its Italian customers technology that can sort recycla- ble materials using artificial intelligence. SWANA Announces Solid Waste Competition Winners The Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) has announced the winners of the International SolidWaste Design Competition (SWDC). The University of Vermont was selected as the first-place winner as well as given the Best Presentation Award. Second place went to the Univer- sity of Texas Arlington and third place was given to Wayne State University. Lizzie Torres from the University of British Columbia received the Emerging Leader/Rising Star award.
