These, and many other passages, are conclusive on this point : Anti-Semitism leads swiftly on to Armageddon; and, when the smoke of that battle rolls away, anti-Semitic hate will roll away with it. The anti-Semitic Antichrist and his false prophet will go crashing to their awful doom in the lake of fire ; and the Serpent, chained, will go—still hissing—to the abyss. Garments, of mercy and robes of justice will take the place of bloody “Shirts” and sheets. Israel and Judah, reunited in affliction, will come forth from the fierce flames of Armageddon, purified. A S olemn W arning Long, long ago, God chose Israel, and said: “Ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people : for all the earth is mine : And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation” (Ex. 19:5, 6). But let not the, Jew vainly boast. This choice was not made because God loved the Jèw above all other men, for “God is no respecter of persons” (Acts 10:34). The choice of God rested upon the unconditional and unchangeable covenants He had made with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and, later, with David (2 Sam. 7:1-17). All these great covenants cari be summed up, and their immutable purpose set forth, in eleven words : “I n th ee [Abraham] shall all th e fam ilies of th e earth be blessed ” (Gen. 12:3, R.V.). Hands off, then, O Gentile—hands off the instrument God hath chosen with which to bless thee ! Leave the shaping and the polishing of that wonderful instrument in His hand. Otherwise, the, instrument for thy blessing may become the instrument for thy cursing ! Hands off, ye fools! Beware of what you do— To man or nation, ’tis most surely true A curse on those who persecute the Jew ! Ye have not marked him—surely ’tis his God— He standeth now beneath chastising rod— Yet greatest rebel on the earthly sod! Jehovah set apart, and not in vain With a more fatal mark than once on Cain For centuries the butt of grief and pain. They had been sinners—surely sinners great ; ~V” 52 Jehovah chose them for a high estate />>>/ That they to earth His glory should relate: p. I ? I To stand His witnesses to near and far— Who to earth’s night should be a glorious star To give hope to a world that sin did mar ! When all the world a whoring from Him went— When to obnoxious gods men’s backs were bent, Debauchery and wickedness man’s sole intent; ’Twas then Jehovah in His sovereign grace, Took by the hand, to have one chosen race, To set the Jew before the wide world’s face! They were to be His monuments of grace, His priests, His witnesses to human race— Head of all nations during time and space. Hands off, O Gentile ! or be grief your dower— They still are girdled by Jehovah’s power; Who else could keep them for a gracious hour? Tho’ curse be cm them yet—and they must go To ghastly depths of suffering and woe— Yet woe to hand who shall that woe bestow! Hands off, I say, for lo, Jehovah still Hath a high place, now wretched Jews shall fill— And none can hinder that—what is His will!

foreign diplomats, that Chancellor Hitler’s economic policy “had brought success exceeding expectations of the most sanguine optimists.” Bear in mind the fact that a large part of that “success” was obtained by driving the Jews out of business, profes sional life, and nearly every other means of livelihood. A half-million jobs for Germans were provided by taking a half-million jobs from Jews! If Germany achieves “suc cess” by cutting Jewish throats, what may be the tempta tions in other nations already rife with anti-Semitism? Will they join with the undergraduates of Berlin University in singing the popular refrain: “When Jewish blood spurts from under the knife, all goes twice as well”? But let not Christians deceive themselves! When once anti-Semitic violence is accepted by the unthinking masses of the fear-filled and fearfully sick world, as a cure-all for its ills—let not Christians think that they shall escape the dragon’s fury. There is a very close relation between Jew and Christian—between the Old Testament and the New. When the Jew becomes so fiercely obnoxious that the Old Testament is rejected because it is Jewish (and, even now, Nazi leaders ate rejecting it in favor of their German folk lore), a like fate awaits the New Testament. The two Testaments stand or fall together. Already, “a section of the Nazis is urging Herr Hitler to wage voar on Christianity on the ground that Jesus was a Jew”! Professor Karl Barth, in conversation with Dr. D. G. Barnhouse, editor of Revelation (Jatiuary, 1934), solemnly said: “We [in Germany] are face to face with a vigorous paganism, strong and solid, and we are fighting for very life. What we are seeing today in Germany is the end of Christianity.” The subtle spirit back of anti-Semitism is not merely anti- Jew. I t is anti-Christ! Today, it is driving its fangs into the breast of the Jew! Tomorrow, it will drive its fangs into the breast of the Christian! A nti -S emitism the D irect C ause for A rmageddon Trhough men may not know, the dragon knows th is: I f once the “Shirts” of the whole world gain the power they have won in Bismarck’s realm, Armageddon’s guns will roar, and there will come out “blood from the wine press, even unto the bridles of the horses” (Rev. 14:20, R.V.), for anti-Semitism is_ to be_ the direct cause for Armageddon.] When, in “the time of Jacob’s trouble,” the world’s Nebuchadnezzar gathers all nations against Jeru salem to battle, and gloats as the remaining sons of Jacob are cast into the fiery furnace of his hate, when “the city [Jerusalem] shall be taken, and the houses rifled,, and the women ravished; . . . Then shall the Lord go forth, and fight against those nations, . . . Arid his feet shall stand iri that day upon the mount of Olives” (Zech. 14:2- 4). “For, behold, in those days, and in that time, when I shall bring again the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem, I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land. . . . The Lord also shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but the Lord will be the hope of his people” (Joel 3: 1, 2,16). “Therefore, wait ye upon me, saith the Lord, until the day that I rise up to the prey: for my determination is to gather the nations, that I may assemble the kingdoms, to pour upon them mine indignation, even all my fierce anger: for all the earth shall be devoured with the fire' of my jealousy. . . . Sing, O daughter of Zion; shout, O Israel; be glad and rejoice with all the heart, O daughter of Jerusalem. The Lord hath taken away thy judgments, he hath cast out thine enemy: the King of Israel, even the Lord, is in the midst of thee: thou shalt pot see evil any more” (Zeph. 3:8, 14, 15).

A renovated world—a new-born earth— No curse of sickness, nor a case of dearth, A world of happiness, and song, and mirth! Lo, then the Jew once more takes highest place; The priests, the leaders of the human race— But, then, blood-washed in Christ's atoning grace, O f former evil in the Jew—no trace! A heaven on earth shall be in every space— And earth behold— THE GLORY OF CHRIST’S FACE!
