In addition, prior to use the PET should be inspected for: • mechanical damage at the junction between the cable and the probe;
4.3 Conclusion Every piece of measurement equipment must be calibrated or have its accuracy verified according to and within the interval stated by the appropriate standard. Measurement is our business; it is what we do. We must be fully confident that the measurement equipment we are using is within the precision requirements established by our industry and required by our clients.
• cuts, breaks, or abrasions in the cable insulation;
• damage to the bonding cable;
• damage to the case body;
• low battery voltage;
• legibility of displays.
If any of the issues above are noted, remove the PET from service until repaired/rectified.
4.2.3 Gauge Tapes, Bobs, & Rulers
Gauge tapes, bobs, rulers and their assemblies, including the tape portion of closed measurement devices, shall be as specified in the latest edition of “API MPMS Chapter 3.1.A” or equivalent Energy Institute or ISO standard. The tape portion of these devices is to be verified before initial use and annually thereafter, as per the standard. Tapes and bobs not meeting the requirements must be discarded or returned to the manufacturer.
