The WSE 006 Digital Acquisition Management workshop at the Warfighting Acquisition Uni- versity (WarU) uses an immer- sive, cross-functional team- based approach that enhances understanding of program- matic activities and mirrors roles within an acquisition pro- gram office. WSE 006 prepares the acquisition workforce to manage and apply these prac- tices in fulfilling the Depart- ment of War’s (DoW) Acquisi- tion Transformation Strategy. Students use a digital ecosystem to conduct model-based technical reviews and maintain configuration management of all programmatic activities. This digital acquisition approach goes beyond digital engi - neering by having all functional ar - eas operate within a digital ecosystem provide nearly real time updates and data sharing across acquisition and programmatic activities. These ac - tivities emphasize outcome focused reviews, in which the model supports evidence-based decision-making Engineering is a DoW policy prior - ity. This activity emphasizes a digi - tal authoritative source of truth and digital models to support the require - ments process; assessment of con - cepts, prototypes, design, and test options; budgeting and resource al - location; and program and portfolio management to improve engineer - ing rigor and data-driven decisions across the acquisition life cycle.
