Obituary Farris Lanard Glover was born on February 12, 1953, to Isaac and Audrey Glover on the Southside of Chicago, Illinois. He attended Melrose Park School and Proviso East High School in Chicago . After high school, Farris enlisted in the military. He served a total of three years in the Armed Services before he was honorably discharged. He served in the Army and Navy.

After serving his country, Farris attended and graduated from Metropolitan State College with a degree in Chemical Dependency.

On July 4, 1988, Farris welcomed his pride and joy, Farris Glover, II.

Farris began his servant leadership at Hennepin County Probation and Parole. From there he continued his work at Fairview Hospital and UBS-United Behavioral Services.

Farris opened his own outpatient social service agency called My Home, LLC. on March 5, 1995, with the support of Kevin Pomeroy, one of his best friends, and George Toby, building owner of 1010 University Avenue, St. Paul, MN. As Farris pursued his dream to serve his community, he met the love of his life, Marguerite. Farris and Marguerite were married on May 10, 1997. They were married for more than 24 years. In 2000, My Home, LLC expanded its program at the 1010 address. Farris continued to press forward with innovative ways to enlighten and empower those in his community. He recognized another population needed an alternative program to the 12-step. His goal for this population was to provide a successful outpatient treatment and chemical dependency program. He achieved this goal in 2002, when My Home, LLC became My Home, Inc. Farris received his license as a Minnesota Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy Treatment Supervisor on June 9, 2021. He served his community in this capacity until he passed on Thursday, November 4, 2021. Farris leaves to cherish his memory and life, his wife, Marguerite Winston-Glover; his son, Farris Glover II; his brother Albert (Roxanne) Glover; his sister Sherry Bosley; his in-laws, Meek and Darrell Cox; his sister-in-law, Kim Lane (Terrence); a host of relatives; friends; and the family of My Home, Inc. and its clients.

Farris is preceded in death by his father, Isaac Glover; his mother, Audrey Glover; his grandparents; his father-in-law, Harvey Winston; and his sister-in-law, Diane Winston.

To My Love: Farris L. Glover, Sr.

I was the Senior Intake Counselor, when we first met at Turning Point Inc., in 1992. You were Lead LACD (License Alcohol Chemical Dependency) Counselor working at UBS “United behavioral Services” in downtown Minneapolis. When I entered my office, you and Lance Grisby were laughing and having a good old time. Then all of a sudden it got quiet. Our eyes locked and I knew I had you. It’s that Price/Winston/Gresham thing the women have in our family. You said to Lance, “Who is this pretty woman.” Lance said, “Oh that’s just Marguerite.” You asked me to walk you out after you completed your update for a Rule 25 on one of your clients. I said yes. As we were walking to the back exit, you requested to have lunch with me, and of course I said yes. The big problem I had was that I too felt the Price/Winston/Gresham thing and I knew I was going to fall in love with you. During our time together, you introduced me to Mystic Lake Casino and we had a wonderful time, but I told you there would only be a six month window to date me. You said, “I’m going to beat those six months.” Yet, a few months later we went our

separate way. In March of 1995, I saw you at one of those community network shows informing the community about your new program. With the love and support of one of your best friends, Kevin Pomeroy, and the owner of GT Auto Parts, George Toy, My Home LLC, opened its doors on March 5, 1995. On December 5, 1995, I received a call. My sister, Diane said you left a message for me to call you. I told my sister if you called back to tell you your six months were up. The next time you called, I answered the telephone and the rest is our love story. We travelled the world, celebrated many happy holidays, birthdays, and a lot of deaths. We loved watching and laughing at Larry David’s, “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and eating at new and different restaurants. We built a wonderful Black/African-American, community-based treatment program. May 10,, 2022, we would have celebrated our 25th wedding day. Wow, we almost made it. I love you and miss you with all of my heart. Your Loving Wife, Marguerite

Usher Service Shiloh Temple International Ministries Repass Immediately following the memorial Acknowledgment Perhaps you sang a song or sat quietly in a chair.

Perhaps you sent a beautiful flower piece, if so, we saw it there. Perhaps you spoke the kindest words as a friend would say. Perhaps you were not there at all, just thought of us that day. Perhaps you rendered a service unseen, near at hand or from afar.

Whatever you did to console our hearts, We thank you so much, for your kind part. -The Family of Farris Glover-
