HSENI EMBARKS ON SAFETY INSPECTION

CAMDEN NAMED NI SUSTAINABLE COMPANY OF THE YEAR 2024

An Antrim-based manufacturer of uPVC doors and windows has lifted Sustainable Company of the Year at the Insider Made in Northern Ireland Awards 2024. Celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, Camden was awarded the NI title, and honoured as a UK finalist in the same category, at the event held in Titanic Belfast on May 17. An inspection focused on machinery guarding, safe isolation and maintenance procedures across Northern Ireland quarries, concrete and waste premises is currently underway until September 2024. Health and Safety Executive for Northern Ireland (HSENI) inspectors will visit premises, ensuring machinery is adequately guarded to prevent access to dangerous parts and providing information. Where significant risks are found, inspectors may take enforcement action to achieve compliance with health and safety legislation and ensure risks are properly managed. Two concrete manufacturers have recently been fined for safety infractions following HSENI investigations.

ROADSHOW HIGHLIGHTS EMPLOYEE BENEFITS ACROSS MACNAUGHTON BLAIR’S NORTHERN IRELAND BRANCHES

Macnaughton Blair has taken to the road to raise awareness of employee rewards and benefits across its Northern Ireland branches. A leading builders’ merchant group in Northern Ireland and the Isle of Man, its merchandising divisions include MacBlair, Watershed Bathrooms, Doorways and Wood Floor Warehouse, trading from 23 locations. The Macnaughton Blair Wellbeing and Rewards Roadshow communicated its benefits to more than 450 employees and branches scattered across the region in May and will build on the work of its internal communications platform launched in late 2023. Head of Marketing Julie Carson and HR Manager Julie-Anne Hanna travelled around NI in the Rewards car, talking to colleagues about company benefits and assisting with sign up. Macnaughton Blair also offered colleagues

RE Woolsey & Sons Ltd in Co Armagh was fined £16,000 at Craigavon Crown Court after pleading guilty to failing to

ensure the safety of employees. An employee suffered serious arm injuries whilst performing maintenance tasks at a concrete batching plant conveyor on January 14, 2021. Dunmurry-based Colinwell Masonry Products Limited was fined £1,000 at Lisburn Magistrates Court, following an HSENI inspection on May 24, 2023, identifying three separate locations at which employees were able to access
