THE PENINSULA CARE HOME, NEWTOWNARDS
M&E INSTALLATION Banbridge-based M&E contractor Adair Building Services was appointed to design, supply, install and commission a complete M&E installation within the prestigious 80-bed nursing home on the banks of Strangford Lough. The Peninsula represents another large-scale project in the healthcare sector completed on time and within budget by the contractor. Mechanical systems installed included water heating derived from gas-fired heaters, and underfloor heating manifolds strategically located to provide heating from gas boilers with environmental controls. Electrical systems included individually-metred switchgear and distribution boards. Challenges were few and far between, with solutions only a phone call away, due to an experienced team including the main contractor, architect, designers and sub-contractors. Melvyn Adair, Director of Adair Building Services, said, “It is refreshing to complete projects with the Hugh J O’Boyle team, as the experience and working relationship we have gained in numerous other similar projects with them made this project feel effortless.”
KITCHEN & LAUNDRY EQUIPMENT
Stephens Catering Equipment (SCE) was appointed by main
contractor Hugh J O’Boyle Ltd to supply, deliver and install the main kitchen and laundry at The Peninsula Care Home. SCE Sales Director Ian Manson managed the project, liaising closely with Hugh J O’Boyle Site Foreman Joe McLeigh. Modern, efficient
equipment supplied by the Broughshane-based business included Rational ovens, Falcon cooking equipment, SCE stainless steel fabrication and refrigeration, Hobart warewashing and Imesa laundry equipment. With a clear specification from Hugh J O’Boyle, SCE faced no challenges and was comfortable in fulfilling the brief. Having previously collaborated with the main contractor, and built a solid working relationship, any minor issues which cropped up were easily identified and resolved and SCE looks forward to working on many more projects with Hugh J O’Boyle in the future. SCE has been in business for almost 50 years. Operating offices in Broughshane, Belfast, Donegal, Dublin and Glasgow, it supplies catering equipment to all sectors of the industry and is flexible in its approach to the challenges faced in an ever- changing marketplace.
