BUILDHEALTH ANNUAL CONFERENCE 2024

HELD IN THE DUNSILLY HOTEL, ANTRIM ON JUNE 13, THE BUILDHEALTH ANNUAL CONFERENCE 2024 FOCUSED ON ENCOURAGING ALL-ABILITY PERSONNEL INTO EMPLOYMENT… Construction – An Industry for All Ability

In a bid to address the current skills shortage and ageing workforce, this year’s BuildHealth annual conference focused on encouraging all-ability personnel into employment, and supporting those already employed who may find themselves needing additional support. Held at the Dunsilly Hotel, Antrim on June 13, a packed conference room heard from expert speakers from the Equality Commission and NIUSE, who explained the law around reasonable access arrangements and covered unlocking government support and possible funding. Signposting was also provided to employers to support their workforce with diagnoses of cancers, dyslexia and diabetes. Speakers and exhibitors provided a wealth of useful information for the construction employers attending,

and networking allowed discussion on industry needs to take place in an informal setting. BuildHealth is a joint venture between the construction industry in Northern Ireland and HSENI, aiming to improve the occupational health of the workforce in the Northern Ireland construction industry. Statements of Commitment were signed during the event by two new member organisations, Lowry Building and Civil Engineering and Dawson Wam. In his last role as BuildHealth Chair, Jerome Hamill welcomed in new Chair Sasha Byrne at conference close and Sasha introduced the new Vice Chair, Jane Dunbar.
