The Bursary Appeal Fund
Since the Assisted Places Scheme came to an end in 1997, the College has relied on the incredible philanthropic generosity of our community towards our Bursary Appeal Fund, which consists largely of an endowment, to fund bursary places. The Bursary Appeal Fund currently stands at £15.5 million and is able to support 14% of the 191 bursaries we are able to offer. The majority of those who are in receipt of a bursary benefit from fee remission of more than 75%. Your support is crucial in helping us to grow the Bursary Appeal Fund into a sustainable source of funding that will support a greater number of deserving, passionate and skilled pupils on bursary places for centuries to come.
Our Ambition Dulwich College is proud to celebrate a long history of supporting access to bright and deserving boys from all backgrounds. We are a diverse community with a healthy social mix and breadth of talent that enriches the experience of every pupil who attends the College. Since the foundation of the College in 1619 to provide ‘good learning’ for ‘twelve poor scholars’, access to an exceptional education, irrespective of circumstances, has remained at the heart of our principles. Boys who are offered a place, with or without fee assistance, are almost all in the top 15% of academic ability for their age group across the UK. The College today remains committed to honouring this tradition and we currently provide fee support, in the form of means-tested bursaries and scholarships, to more than 30% of our pupils. Our ambition is to increase this to 50%, offering life-changing bursaries to a greater number of academically minded boys whose families are not able to afford the fees. Enabling more young people from underprivileged backgrounds to have access to a Dulwich College education will have both an immediate and long-term impact on their lives, providing the resources and tools that allow them to excel and go on to reach their full potential.
All contributions are welcome, no matter how large or small.

“The moment I found out that I was able to come to Dulwich with financial assistance I was over the moon about it. It just seemed like a really good fit in terms of not only offering the sporting side but also the wider learning and the kind of culture to be able to develop as a person as well. An environment that will support you in what you’re doing and the belief that everyone is able to better themselves.”
