August Acrostic A soft answer tumeth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger (Prov. 15:1). U nto thee, 0 my strength, will I sing: for God is my defence, and the God of my mercy (Psa. 59: i f ) . G od is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psa. 46:1). U nto you therefore which believe he is precious (1 Pet. 2:7). S eek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you (Matt. 6:33). T his is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief (1 Tim. 1:15). CON TEST CORNER $1 Prize H ere is a story from Nancy Samuel- son, 12, Selah, Wash. She is just getting over rheumatic fever and this story is true. The K ind Little Sparrow When I was sick in bed with rheu matic fever, I was looking out of my window one day, and on a wire sat the cutest sparrow I had ever seen. She was sitting there picking feathers out of herself and I thought that it was strange. As she kept on picking feathers, I noticed that she would al- way fly to a certain tree with them in her mouth and was making a nest there. She was giving of her very self to do good for others. I could imagine the little nest being made, the young birds enjoying the warm comfort of soft feathers, but I could also imagine the mother bird feeling chilly when the weather was cold without her own feathers to keep her warm. The sparrow reminds me of the Lord Jesus who gave all of Himself that we might have eternal life. Another contest winner is Beth Elmore, 11, Beech Grove, Ind. Here is her poem. God Loves M e I think when I look at the blue blue sky Of the Great Creator who lives on high. I look at the bees and the humming bird And read of the ant in God’s own Word.

given us our bodies with which to glorify and serve Him. He made every part of us for His use. In fact, in the Bible there is a verse which tells how we may have beautiful feet. In Romans 10:15 we read, “ How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace and bring tidings of good things.” So if we take the message of Jesus and His salva tion to boys and girls who do not know Him, even our feet will be pretty. That goes for our hands and faces and lips and ears and eyes as well. So let us forget ourselves and try to win others to our Saviour. Then we will be beautiful to God which is the only beauty that matters anyway, for it lasts throughout eter nity. I look at the trees so stately and tall And it makes me feel so very small. But I know God loves me, He sent His Son To die for me, the par doned one.
