Cross-Functional Use Case: Forget Me Nots

Use Case Objective:

Collaborate with the vendor to ensure we have sufficient forecasting and planning around sleeper “forget me not” type items during seasonal periods or holidays

Use Case Benefits: While our teams generally do a great job identifying and planning for items that tend to have high spikes around these times, there are situations where items may be missed, and we risk facing out of stock issues. Collaborating with the vendors to ensure we have taken their items into account helps ensure we remain in-stock during key time periods.

Process/Analytical Steps:

Metrics to Review:

1. Several weeks out from the “event”, have a conversation with the vendor to discuss any items that we have historically under forecasted or had in-stock issues with 2. Validate the list using IRi data to review historical trends and opportunities - ensure that it was not vendor fill rate issue - if it was, address through collaborative forecasting 3. Review Unsaleable history to ensure there were no major issues with these items after the event 4. Check with our supply chain partners in Demand to see if they have these items on their radar to adjust forecasts in preparation for the event 5. Often, the CAO team will apply lifts to specific items or categories during seasonal and holiday events. Review the CAO team’s list for the vendor’s items and verify if they are already on the list. If not, after discussing with Demand, share the items with the CAO team so they can determine if there is a need to add a lift directly into CAO 6. Consult with the category team on the findings and if they have any insights or concerns
