and mentorship. That same year, she co- authored the Low-Cost Veterinary Clinical Diagnostics Guide with Dr. Ryane Englar, an innovative resource designed to enhance in-house veterinary diagnostics and expand access to quality care. Dr. Dial’s leadership and service reflect the U of A’s core values of determination and adaptation. She served as Director of the Arizona Veterinary Diagnostic Lab within the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (now CALES) from 2017-2019 and later guided the College of Veterinary Medicine’s formative years as Interim Associate Dean for Academic and Faculty Affairs in 2019. Her dedication extended to multiple university and community committees, including the Faculty Senate, Grievance Clearinghouse Committee, CVM Curriculum and Admissions Committees, and the Southern Arizona Veterinary Medical Association (SAVMA) Board of Directors and Continuing Education Committee, where she has served for over two decades. As she embarks on her next chapter, we celebrate Dr. Dial’s remarkable career and the enduring legacy she leaves behind. ■
Though Dr. Klimecki is now retired, his educational influence and commitment to student-centered teaching remain central to his long-term legacy at the University of Arizona. A highly invested veterinary medicine and pharmacology professional and educator, Dr. Klimeck’s role in shaping the curriculum but also the identity of the program at the College of Veterinary Medicine reflects his passion for long-term student success. As one of the college’s founding faculty members, Dr. Klimecki was instrumental in creating its innovative lecture-free, hands-on approach to veterinary education, ensuring that every student gains the skills, confidence, and problem-solving ability needed for real-world practice. His passion for education began at Ohio State University in 1984, where he earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. He later pursued a PhD in pharmacology and toxicology from the University of Arizona in 1994. Dr. Klimecki’s influence reaches far beyond the College of Veterinary Medicine. He holds appointments in the R. Ken Coit College of Pharmacy, the College of Nursing,
