SCIENCE MUSEUM OKLAHOMA Located next door to the zoo, this museum houses numerous galleries all under one roof. It also features live science and planetarium shows, one of the nation’s tallest spiral slides and CurioCity, a 20,000-square-foot village featuring eight whimsical neighborhoods where children can learn about science. Adults should keep an eye out for the SMO 21 events, which are offered several times a year. The after-hours events allow people age 21 and over to celebrate science with cocktails, special guests and other attractions to fit the theme. BLESSED STANLEY ROTHER SHRINE Located in southeast Oklahoma City near the city of Moore, the 6,000-square- foot Blessed Stanley Rother Shrine, which opened in 2023, honors the life of Father Stanley Rother, who was murdered by unknown assailants in Santiago Atitlán, Guatemala, in 1981 where he served as a missionary priest until his death. The Catholic Church recognized Rother as the first U.S.-born martyr for the faith and subsequently beatified the Okarche, Okla., native in 2016. The shrine church is designed in the Spanish-mission style and is the largest Catholic church in the state. There is also a chapel and pilgrimage center, which contains a museum and gift shop. The museum highlights the story of Blessed Stanley Rother’s life and mission. It features artifacts from every stage of his life and provide information about his martyrdom and beatification. With God's blessing, one day, it also will contain information related to his canonization! RESTAURANTS, SHOPPING & NIGHTLIFE Oklahoma City’s low cost of living means that its residents have more disposable income in their pockets.
