CURRENT RESEARCH ACTIVITY
• Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocol - collaborative project to optimise perioperative care of cardiac surgical patients • AI tool development for predicting cardiothoracic ward patients that are likely to deteriorate (with Sydney Adventist Hospital) • Development of a RNSH implantable cardiac device database to record all cases performed • Long term follow up (10-15 years) of off-pump arterial grafts and projects related to assessing and improving off-pump surgery • Bio-printing of human cardiac patches to improve heart regeneration • Evaluating use of aortic cannulation in valve replacement • Investigating axillary inflow cerebral injury in patients undergoing aortic valve replacement • Vascular leak associated micro-RNA in cardiovascular surgery • Determining trans-catheter aortic valve implantation outcomes in low-risk patients
