Walk to School with the Mayor : The purpose of the walk is to raise awareness of the City’s Active School Travel Program, emphasizing the significance and advantages of sustainable transportation options for students, parents and guardians. This initiative aims to demonstrate the collective commitment of various stakeholders who share a vested interest in promoting environmentally friendly travel practices.
Pedestrian Crossovers : With the implementation of new Pedestrian Crossovers in the Lawford Road community, we worked with the City’s Communications, Marketing and Engagement department, York Regional Police, the school administration and school board to launch an education session for a school in the area. The session educated participants about the purpose of Pedestrian Crossovers as a new traffic control measure in the area, which was well received by students and teachers. The Roads Operations team supported the signage installation.
