PERFORMING ARTS SHOWCASE PROGRAM

PERFORMANCES BY PRIMARY & SECONDARY STUDENTS

DIRECTED BY

AIMEE FREIND

It is with great pleasure to welcome you to our very first whole - school Performing Arts Showcase ‘ Rhythm Revival ’. All students have been working very hard this Semester on getting their performances ready for this evening and are all extremely excited. Throughout the showcase we will be on a journey to see and hear music and dance across the decades. There will be a range of different performances including

instrumental musical items, and dance spectaculars from the Year 1, 2, 4, 5, 7 and 10 classes. We will also be treated to some dances choreographed by Lakes Alumni, Jemma Craig and Mischa Wright. On a personal note, it has been an absolute delight to teach the Primary students this Semester. I have loved getting to know these wonderful kids and their excitement and enthusiasm around music, dance and drama has reminded me of why I love teaching. I ’ m looking forward to commencing work on our next showcase for Semester 2 with the Preps, Year 3 and Year 6 students. The Performing Arts Team are very proud of all of The Lakes students. We cannot wait for you to see their efforts on the stage. We hope you enjoy! Stay tuned for information regarding our second Performing Arts Showcase taking place in Term 4.

MEET THE TEAM

ALINA AGARONYAN

Feeling wildly inspired watching a televised live performance of a Symphony Orchestra at the age six, Alina began her violin journey shortly after. She has continued her love for the instrument through school and has gone on studying music education and performance at the University of Auckland. Performing in a diverse variety of events, Alina has most enjoyed playing in orchestral settings, chamber, ensemble and accompanying ensembles. Most recently she has been a part of Gilbert and Sullivan ’ s Opera Victoria production of The Pirates of Penzance. Experiencing a diverse music education Alina has developed a love of sharing her musical knowledge with her students.

BEN HENDRY

Ben is an enthusiastic and passionate music educator with over 20 years ’ experience teaching the drum set and percussion. He has taught private students, small and large ensembles and run masterclasses, drum clinics and workshops throughout Australia, England and Europe at many of their renowned music institutions. As an educator, he believes in taking a well - rounded approach, individualising his lesson plans to encourage his pupils to explore and find their own unique interests.

In her teaching practice Alina is most passionate about providing a supportive and nurturing environment where students feel encouraged and free to express themselves. Alina incorporates theory, problem solving and different styles of music, promoting

independent thinking through her encouraging approach, instilling the desire to learn.

TEBS

Tebs, with a Brazilian background and over 17 years of experience in the music industry, believes that everyone has the potential to learn an instrument with enough motivation. Proficient in guitar, bass, saxophone, and clarinet, he tailors his classes to each student's specific needs, guiding them through a positive and calm environment while incorporating songs they love. In 2015, he released his first album with the band Gudicarmas, and in 2024, his debut single 'Intentionally Lost' marked his solo artist journey. Tebs finds joy in sharing his love for music and helping others express themselves through this timeless art form.

LUCY MACGREGOR

“ The only thing better than singing is more singing. ” Ella Fitzgerald.

Lucy spent her school years learning a variety of musical instruments including violin, guitar, alto saxophone and piano but it was singing that stole her heart.

She moved to Melbourne in 2019 to embark on her journey of studying music and becoming an educator. Whether it be musical theatre,

pop, rock, jazz, or classical, Lucy prepares her students with healthy technique and performance skills for the stage. She crafts her lessons to each students ’ needs, passing on her love of music in a relaxed and inspiring manner. Outside of teaching, Lucy performs in multiple music projects, her favourite being an eight - piece electronic jazz group called Ctrl+Me.
