The 11-mile Green Line light rail opened in June 2014, linking aging, racially-diverse neighborhoods that had experienced “decades of disinvestment” with the downtowns of Saint Paul and Minneapolis and other employment hubs, including the University of Minnesota and the state capitol. The line has exceeded ridership projects with an average weekday ridership of 30,000.
