About Paul:

Patient Success Spotlight

Paul Maugeri was a husband, father, and friend living among us in Delaware County. He was not only a patient of APAT but truly became part of the family as he worked to overcome MS. He remained heavily involved with the National MS Society, through fundraising and patient advocacy, for the 31 years he battled the disease. Paul passed away in April of 2017 and we honor his work on behalf of the more than 13,000 individuals living with MS in the Greater Delaware Valley region. TheMultipleSclerosisResearch Institutewasstartedto: Find the cause of MS, specifically by determining why immune cells called Regulatory T-cells are not doing their job and, therefore, allow other types of immune cells to damage myelin and nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. Stop: Until there is a cure we need to stop MS attacks and progression of the disease. The mechanism of action of current therapies is being investigated to help gain clues as to how these treatments affect Regulatory T-cells so that these insights can improve current drugs and help design better drugs for treating MS in the future. Cure: In collaboration with other researchers MSRI is involved in the development of an entirely new approach to treating MS. The goal of this research is to reduce and eliminate the inflammatory process, as well as disease progression.

“There are three types of people in this world: those who watch things happen, those who wonder what happened, and those who make things happen.” Paul’s favorite quote, let’s make this happen.. GO TO YOU TUBE TO SEE PAUL’S TESTIMONIAL https://youtu.be/Fc7I0hIsa40
