Pinckney Picked as Pickering Fellow
Joshua Pinckney (DC 2021) was awarded a 2024 Pickering Fellowship. Funded by the U.S. Department of State and administered by Howard University, the program attracts and prepares outstanding young people for foreign service careers in the U.S. Department of State. “ [Dietrich’s] interdisciplinary approach allowed me to consistently challenge and complicate the view that I started to form of the world. A Philosophy Major Walks into a Newsroom

Eric Salzman (DC 1997), senior producer for “NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt,” has had a prestigious career as a news producer since graduating with a degree in philosophy. He credits his training in the Philosophy Department with his ability to ask difficult questions, employ skepticism and logic to build a case and approach stories from unique angles.
