Home sooner than they imagined It’s not just the experience we had. It’s the finished product. The home we’re living in is such a high- quality home. – Jessi ' ' They had one simple hope - to be in their new home before Christmas. Throughout construction, their Site Manager Scott called every fortnight with an update on what had happened and what was coming next.
Built for the life they love. For Jessi & Shaylan, the difference between a house and a home is simple. “To me, a home is somewhere that’s full of love and happiness, somewhere you feel like you belong,” Jessi says. It’s a feeling they already knew well. Their first home was where they began married life and welcomed their two children. They loved their street, their neighbours and the area they had both grown up in. They simply needed more space. Rather than leave the area they loved, Jessi and Shaylan decided to knock down and rebuild, creating the extra space their growing family needed.
Plenty of reasons to love coming home
For their children, the excitement was immediate. They ran through the house exploring their new rooms before discovering the little space under the stairs that quickly became their own secret hideaway. Today, everyone has their own reasons to love coming home. Jessi finally has the walk-in linen she dreamed of, along with a kitchen and walk- in pantry she loves. Shaylan has his fireplace, walk-in wardrobe and ensuite. The kids have their own rooms, their hideaway under the stairs and, of course, the pool. But for Jessi and Shaylan, what they love most about their new home is what it means for their family. “All we have ever wanted is to have a happy family and live in a home that we designed and that’s perfect for us,” Jessi says.
“Scott was phenomenal,” Jessi says. “He didn’t skip a beat.”
“He made sure we knew exactly what was happening. He made us feel like we were part of the journey,” Shaylan says. Their build was completed in just 37 weeks, around 17 weeks earlier than anticipated. “We were in before Christmas... in July!” Jessi says.
“It’s our forever home,” Shaylan adds.
Finding the perfect fit
Their block was unusually wide and shallow and keeping the family’s much-loved pool made finding the right design a challenge. “We searched so many different websites and spoke to different builders,” Jessi explains. Then they discovered the Saratoga 44, a design that not only worked with their block but had the layout and sense of space they had been searching for. “What really stood out for me was the layout,” Jessi says. “I felt like I was getting so much more with Clarendon.” Shaylan adds, “We looked at that design and thought, that’s pretty much perfect. There was very little we had to change to make it ours.”
