CROSSOVER TRIO COLLECTION David Yurman
B
Born from a collaboration between David Yurman and his wife, Sybil, the namesake brand’s Crossover collection is a striking example of creative synergy, effectively blending their distinct perspectives into a cohesive design narrative. “Design is our love language,” said Sybil, “and Crossover is the ultimate love letter. It’s a playful expression of our connection.” At the heart of the Crossover collection is the interplay of intertwined strands of smooth and signature cabled cords. Further, its innovative use of mixed metals — combining gold and silver — has become a signature element of David Yurman’s work, first introduced in this collection and carried forward in each new iteration.
The latest interpretation of the Crossover collection, Trio, adds a whole new dimension to the design with the integration of perfect triangles. The Yurmans’ son, Evan, introduced these pyramidal elements, drawing inspiration from architecture while simultaneously adding a generational touch. These perfect triangles not only seamlessly integrate into the weaving of smooth and cabled strands, but also represent the continuation of the family’s creative legacy and unity that binds them.
DESIGN IS OUR LOVE LANGUAGE, AND CROSSOVER IS THE ULTIMATE LOVE LETTER. IT’S A PLAYFUL EXPRESSION OF OUR CONNECTION.

Ashley Lauren ALBERT’S OWN EXCLUSIVE DESIGNER
What prompted you to become a jewelry designer? My husband! Josh asked me to design some styles for loose diamonds and gemstones he had. It was only a matter of time before I had an entire sketch book filled. He supported my vision from the start and pushed me to keep going. I love any opportunity to be creative and find much fulfillment in designing jewelry.
Ashley Halpern is approaching 7 years since the launch of the Ashley Lauren collection exclusively at Albert’s Diamond Jewelers. The collection is the result of over 20 years of industry knowledge combined with a passion for art, design, and history. This past year, her Skyline necklace won the InStore Magazine Design Award, receiving accolades from jewelers around the country. How do you approach your designs and creative process? Do you design based on current trends? I tend to have either a massive amount of what I call “design block” or too many ideas all at once. I want the collection to tell a larger story, but within the collection are various vignettes. I approach my designs with intention and visualize where they fit within that story. The designs also have to be commercially viable. I can fall in love with a design, but my end goal is for someone to purchase it. I have to strike a balance between the creative process and a good business decision. It’s important to be aware of current trends, but not to be confined by them.
Do you collaborate with anyone during the design process?
I usually start the design process on my own, but I definitely have a great team of people I collaborate with, once that process continues. Sometimes I have an idea, but someone makes a suggestion on how it could be even better, and I appreciate that. And although it can be difficult to hear, I respect when someone tells me it’s not the best idea! I work with a really smart group of people who understand my aesthetic, and are supportive of what I am doing.
Can you share something special you are working on?
What is it like working with your spouse? We work really well together, and truly enjoy being around each other. When you’re a business owner, sometimes you sacrifice the time you would rather be at home with your family. We have the ability to spend time together at work, and that’s a really special privilege. Being in the jewelry business for so long, I like that I can support him and his vision for the company.
I bought a pair of ancient Roman earring fragments earlier this year. I have spent time researching jewelry of that time period to gain a better understanding of how they were constructed. I want to take my time with the design process for these, because there is a high level of preservation at stake.
18 ALBERT’S DIAMOND JEWELERS MAGAZINE
Do you have a most treasured item in your personal jewelry collection? I have a few pieces that are my most treasured, some I have received over the years for various occasions, and others I have designed (and kept for myself!) I especially love a ring my daughter designed for me. My husband helped her create it, and they kept this special secret to themselves. She’s very creative and loves to be involved in what I do. What type of jewelry should someone own, and how should they wear it? What types of pieces should someone have in their collection? I am a big fan of the concept of “You do you!” I have seen women lean toward a maximalist approach to wearing jewelry — rings on each finger, layers upon layers of necklaces and bracelets — and I also see women opting for a more minimalist look with fewer pieces.
Women and men should find pieces that speak to them and make them feel special and empowered. How did it feel to win the prestigious INSTORE Magazine Design Award for the Skyline necklace? This was a very proud moment for me! The Skyline necklace won first place and the retailer’s choice award, both being such a high honor. It meant that my work had been voted on by my peers in the industry, and with so many talented designers to choose from, it was very gratifying to win. It has pushed me to keep going and consider taking the collection to a different level. On that note, what does the future of Ashley Lauren collection look like, for the designs and you personally? The line continues to evolve, and I am currently working on a bridal line. I would also love to design timepieces. Right now, I am focused on maintaining a healthy work life balance and my number one priority: my family. Both of my children will be in high school within the next 1-2 years, and I know that will also bring on a new chapter in parenting.

CLASSIC DESIGNS BEAUTIFULLY DISRUPTED
18k Yellow Gold 16 Inch 1.10ctw Multi-Shape Diamond Cluster Pendant $2,699
This year, jewelry trends are taking an exhilarating turn. While styles naturally evolve, the trend of incorporating multi- shaped diamond cuts into classic designs is the most stunning disruption we’ve seen in decades. From tennis bracelets and necklaces to earrings, the infusion of diverse diamond cuts captures everyone’s attention. Imagine the timeless elegance of a tennis bracelet or eternity band, now transformed with a dazzling mix of round, princess, emerald, and marquise cuts. Each shape reflects light differently, creating a dynamic interplay that catches the eye and adds a contemporary twist to a beloved classic. The beauty of this trend lies in its organic feel, reminiscent of diamonds sprinkled effortlessly or puzzled together side by side. What’s truly inspiring about these designs is their versatility. You can seamlessly integrate these new pieces into your existing collection, creating a look that’s both harmonious and refreshingly distinct. Imagine layering a multi-shaped diamond necklace with a traditional solitaire pendant or wearing earrings that combine different cuts for a look that’s as refined as it is contemporary.
Our favorite part of this trend is its ability to make a bold statement while maintaining an air of gracefulness. It’s perfect for those who appreciate the artistry of jewelry and want to express their individuality with bold, mixed-shape jewelry designs. These pieces are not just accessories; they are conversations waiting to happen, perfect for anyone who loves to stand out. With each embellishment, the rules of classic elegance are rewritten and creative boundaries are tested. This is more than a fashion trend; it’s a movement towards embracing diversity in design.

Cartier CARTIER’S ICONIC SANTOS WATCH
COLLECTION INCLUDES THREE CREATIVE VARIATIONS THAT CARRY ON THE LEGACY OF THE ORIGINAL WATCH MADE FOR PIONEERING AVIATOR ALBERTO SANTOS-DUMONT IN 1904.
SANTOS DE CARTIER SKELETON
T
The first is the Santos de Cartier Skeleton with a 39.8 mm wide stainless steel case, sapphire crystals on both sides, and a steel bracelet with a SmartLink adjustment system. An additional alligator skin strap is provided. The open- worked dial is home to blued- steel sword-shaped hands that point to skeletonized bridges forming Roman numerals while the seven-sided crown is set with a faceted sapphire. Inside the 100-meter water-resistant case is the Caliber 9611 MC automatic movement. The remaining pair are stainless steel Santos de Cartier models, which retain the signature style of the original aviator watch. The Santos de Cartier medium model features a 35.1 mm case, furnished with a graduated blue dial. Conversely, the Santos de Cartier large
model includes a 39.8 mm steel case, fitted with a graduated green dial. Both versions benefit from Cartier’s QuickSwitch interchangeable system, which means the integrated stainless steel bracelet can be easily swapped out with the leather strap that accompanies each watch (a blue strap for the blue dial medium model and a green strap for the green dial large model). What’s more, both watches run on the in- house Caliber 1847 automatic movement and include seven- sided crowns each set with a synthetic faceted blue spinel.

The Beauty of
Bejeweled Watches
W
Whether a few subtle diamond-set hour markers or a timepiece entirely pavéd in precious gems, bejeweled watches are cherished for the added sparkle they add to any wrist. Depending on the number of gems used — not to mention whether precious metals are also added into the mix — bejeweled watches can range from relatively affordable to exceedingly expensive, making it easy to find a suitable one for a variety of budgets. While dressier timepieces embellished with gems are classics, robust sports watches decorated with a dash of diamonds make a strong style statement. Diamonds paired with gold is a tried- and-true formula that’s easy to fall in love with, yet stainless steel peppered with diamonds is the timekeeping equivalent of fashion- forward high-low dressing.

Breitling Navitimer new Watches Launched in 1952, the Navitimer was the first wristwatch for pilots to combine a chronograph and a computational slide rule. It quickly emerged as one of Breitling’s flagship watch models, becoming a beloved icon in both aviation and pop culture.
TAKE TO THE SKIES

Breitling began redesigning the Navitimer line in 2022, starting with the original chronograph. It continues that update with two new pared-down executions: a GMT and a three-hand Au- tomatic, each in a univer- sally wearable 41 mm size.
These pieces distill the Navitimer’s iconic look, omitting the chronograph yet preserving the balanced dial. The central placement of the 24-hour scale on the GMT and the Automatic’s clean dial ensure the intricate slide rule stands out while streamlining the overall aesthetics. The palette includes black, blue, silver, ice blue, and green dials, encased in stainless steel or 18-karat red gold, along with a two-tone variant for the Automatic. This reinvention of the Navitimer, marrying the classic with the contemporary, is tailored for enthusiasts and the style-conscious alike, promising Breitling’s commitment to heritage and innovation in each timepiece.

NEW PERFORMANCE CHRONOGRAPHS WITH
TACHYMETER SCALES DEDICATED TO ITS MOTORSPORT PARTNERS
IWC Schaffhausen introduced two performance chronographs dedicated to its motorsport partners Mercedes-AMG and the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula OneTM Team. Crafted from titanium or Ceratanium ® , the Pilot’s Watch Performance Chronograph 41 combines IWC’s expertise in chronographs and advanced materials. A distinguishing feature is the ceramic bezel with a tachymeter scale, enabling the wearer to measure the average speed based on the distance traveled. Black dials with a glossy finish, recessed totalizers, applied indices, and numerals filled with Super-LumiNova ® complement the sleek design. All models are powered by the IWC-manufactured Caliber 69385 and are water-resistant to 10 bar.
The Pilot’s Watch Performance Chronograph 41 AMG features a case, crown, and pushers crafted from robust and lightweight titanium. IWC pioneered this hard-to-machine metal in the watch industry in 1980 when it released the first wristwatch with a titanium case and bracelet. IWC had acquired the specific know-how for machining titanium in close collaboration with French aerospace com- pany Aérospatiale. Offering the highest strength-to-density ratio of any metal, titanium is frequently used in automotive engineering to manufacture components for high-performance engines. The grade 5 titanium alloy used for the Pilot’s Watch Performance Chronograph 41 case is around 45 percent lighter than steel and remarkably rigid. The case features a brushed finish with polished details on the horns. One version is fit- ted with a robust, waterproof black rubber strap (Ref. IW388305), while the other version (Ref. IW388304) features a titanium bracelet with H-links and an integrated folding clasp.
The Pilot’s Watch Performance Chrono- graph 41 Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula OneTM Team features a case made of Ceratani- um ® . Developed by IWC, this material combines the lightness and structural integrity of titanium with a hardness and scratch resistance similar to ceramic. The lightweight material is based on a special titanium alloy forged to IWC’s specifi- cations. The case components are machined from bars using computer-controlled turning and milling centers. Afterward, they are elabo- rately finished by hand and fired in a kiln at high temperatures. During this firing process, a phase transformation occurs and the material’s surface obtains properties similar to ceramic and its striking matte black finish. One version is fitted with a black rubber strap with a Ceratanium ® pin buckle (Ref. IW388306). The other version fea- tures a Ceratanium ® bracelet with an integrated folding clasp (Ref. IW388307).

of the Color Rainbow
T
social media certainly plays a part in consumer demand for new and exciting deisngs, material science has also evolved and made possible the manufacturing of dials and cases in more exotic materials and colors.
Think for a moment of some of the most iconic watches. Perhaps one went on a mission to outer space, or another was the premier model designed for underwater use, defining an entire catagory of dive watches. Whatever the case, in each instance, the odds are that it had a black dial — or if it was especially “bold,” a white one. For much of luxury watch history, brands have constrained their dial colors to, primarily, these two shades — or if it was a precious metal case, a dial that matched the metal. But there has been a renaissance of sorts in the last few years. Brands are bringing new life to their lines with one simple trick — colorful dials. At first, shades of blue, then green, dominated, but in 2024, the sky is the limit for colorful options. In fact, there are cases where dial color is becoming the defining element of a large number of watch models. While
This isn’t this first time we have seen a market- wide twist in the color of watches. In the 1970s and ’80s, it was common for brands to produce dials out of unique stones and bright colors. This was, in part to battle the quartz crisis, but also to follow the fashion trends of the time.
42 ALBERT’S DIAMOND JEWELERS MAGAZINE
From a design perspective, the expansion of dial color palettes certainly creates some interesting pieces. While complications and technical innovations are great, they take years, or even decades, to perfect, and they don’t tend to drum up interest for the casual enthusiast. However, adding an unexpected pink or yellow dial to an otherwise fairly standard watch catches the interest of a wider audience, breating new life — and demand — to an established brand, or even an entire genre. The potentially largest driver of the luxury watch dial color explosion is certainly pop culture. Top-quality watches have become a more popular accessory, thanks to an uptick in celebrities talking and posting about their watch collections.
From actors to athletes, the recognition of traditionally rare or exclusive models has created an entirely new generation of enthusiasts. Helping to drive that fascination are unique dial colors and materials. No longer is it enough of a flex to just have a certain model; there is an important amount of cachet to owning a unique and sought-after color. The drip is in the details! With a seriously expanded palette of colors, there is a fabulous range of diversity in the market. This, in turn, drives additional interest — which pushes the makers into even more innovation. It’s an exciting time to be a collector, whether you’re looking to expand your options or shopping for your very first high quality watch!

TAG Heuer CARRERA CHRONOGRAPH PANDA
watch reveals the in-house automatic Caliber Heuer 02 (Ref. TH20-00) chronograph movement that drives the watch with 80 hours of power reserve. The new Carrera Chronograph Panda not only builds upon the Carrera’s rich heritage but also embodies the innovation and avant-garde spirit for which TAG Heuer is renowned.
Introduced in 1963 and named after the legendary Carrera Panamericana Road race, the TAG Heuer Carrera has defined the wristwatch chronograph genre for over six decades. TAG Heuer now introduces its latest Carrera Chronograph, which draws inspiration from a vintage model and comes fitted with a striking silver and black “Panda” dial. It was Jack Heuer who designed the Carrera, focused on creating a chronograph with an uncluttered, functional dial. While he developed countless Carrera creations, it is the 7753 SN from the late 1960s that serves as inspiration for this newest iteration. Maintaining the spirit of legibility, the black azuré subdials at 3 and 9 o’clock contrast with the silver sunray-brushed dial, creating the signature bi-compax “panda” look. The addition of captivating, red-lacquered sub-dial hands further amplifies the contrast, ensuring clarity at a glance.
To further elevate readability, the watch incorporates TAG Heuer’s iconic glass box design, set to become a staple of the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph line. The 39 mm steel case, topped with a sapphire crystal reminiscent of 1970s Heuer Carrera models, has been redeveloped where the crystal flows seamlessly over the tachymeter scale and into the case. The contrasting black curved flange and curved rhodium-plated indexes contribute to the watch’s cohesive aesthetic.
The rhodium-plated central hand features a red-lacquered tip, catching the eye when reading the time. The black seconds hand ensures a clear distinction. Notably, each 5-second interval is marked in red, enhancing visibility. This also marks the first time the redesigned Carrera Chronograph is fitted with a steel bracelet, a welcome addition to the line. The back of the

Oris returns to the water with a 2,000-piece limited edition created to support the Australian non-profit Reef Restoration Foundation. Oris partnered with Reef Restoration Foundation in 2018 based on its mission to bring Change for the Better. “Oris is climate neutral and committed to the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals,” says Co-CEO Rolf Studer. “Supporting the Reef Restoration Foundation is a joy, and we’re delighted to shine a light on their work to counter the effects of climate change on the world’s reefs.” The Great Barrier Reef Limited Edition IV watch is based on the next-
generation Aquis Date Caliber 400 but with a few extra details designed to capture the foundation’s story. These start with the vivid gradient blue dial, which not only mimics the turquoise and blue waters of the Great Barrier Reef from the air but also the refraction of the sun’s rays through the water. This is one of the few times Oris has made a dial gradient that falls vertically from 12 o’clock rather than emanating from the center. The dial is home to center hours, minutes, and seconds hands, as well as a date window at 6 o’clock. The hands and indices are coated with Super- LumiNova for low-light legibility.

INTERCHANGING FINE JEWELRY BANDS CAN ADD AN ELEMENT OF FRESHNESS AND EXCITEMENT TO YOUR PERSONAL COLLECTION.
L
Life is layered. From personal milestones to anniversaries and beyond, there are many moments to be marked and celebrated — and fine jewelry, with its timeless allure that transcends cultures and generations, is the perfect way to do just that. Minimal-but-mighty bands serve as lasting mementos of love, commitment, and success that can be passed down for generations to come. One of the beauties of owning such bands is their versatility. Unlike some jewelry pieces that are more distinct in style or cater to a specific occasion, bands can be elegantly simple or intricately designed, making them suitable for a variety of settings. This adaptability allows the wearer to express their unique style and preferences, celebrating their journey with pieces that truly resonate with them.
Owning multiple fine jewelry bands is not just a luxury; it’s a form of personal expression. Each band can tell a different story or represent a different chapter in one’s life. Take a classic diamond-studded band; it may symbolize an engagement, while a more modern, minimalist design might mark a career milestone or personal accomplishment. The ability to interchange the bands allows for a dynamic way to honor and remember life’s most important moments. It also means it’s easy to match jewelry to an outfit, mood, or the specific nature of any event. Interchanging fine jewelry bands can add an element of freshness and excitement to a personal collection, and prevent the monotony of wearing the same piece every day. A range of different combinations allows for the
joy of rediscovering a beloved band from occasions past. That not only enhances the value of each piece but also keeps accessories feeling fresh. Fine jewelry bands are more than just decorative; they are tokens of life’s most cherished moments — big or small. Combining multiple interchangable rings is a great way to celebrate originality and style, as well as life’s special memories.

FOUR WAYS TO STYLE “I DO.”
Planning a wedding is daunting, especially now that brides-to-be have infinite online inspiration at their fingertips. There are so many different types of weddings that it can be hard to know which approach is right. Will you start your happily-ever-after at a small backyard affair? A black-tie evening in a museum rotunda? Maybe a literary ceremony at a historic library? Before diving into tablescapes, rings, favors, and all the other fun details, it’s helpful for a bride to pick a theme for her wedding day. Do you see yourself as a traditional, modern, romantic , or organic bride? Having one style in mind while planning helps ensure that every element of your wedding works beautifully together on the big day.

The traditional bride embraces the exquisite beauty of wedding classics. Her gown will be minimalist and magnificent. She’ll want a subdued color scheme that’s mostly neutrals, a bespoke tuxedo for her groom, and a matching bowtie for her well-behaved golden retriever. Everything will be refined and as wedding-ey as a wedding can be.
A.Jaffe 18k Yellow Gold 2 Carat Oval Bezel Solitaire $19,230
The modern bride is deeply in touch with her personal style and won’t hesitate to throw tradition out the window in favor of personalization. She might choose a colorful wedding dress or a sleek bridal jumpsuit, a cannoli cart instead of a cake, maybe even a dapper flower man slinging blooms as he bops down the aisle, instead of the typical teetering tot with a basket of petals.

Albert's Collection 18k Yellow Gold 1.50 Carat Round .21ctw Diamond Engagement Ring $11,450
The romantic bride takes the sentiment inherent in all weddings to a whole new level. Romance lives in the details: the notes of a particular love song heralding the bride’s entrance, references to the couple’s milestones in the table decor, or personalized vows that will make even the most stoic groomsman sniffle. The gown will likely involve lace, beading, embroidery, or all three.
Albert's Collection 14k Yellow Gold 1.21 Carat Oval .16ctw Diamond Engagement Ring $12,900
The organic bride will want to say her “I dos” in perfect harmony with the earth. Think thrifted décor, sustainable flowers with lots of greenery, local farm-to-table catering, and native wildflower seeds as favors. Don’t be surprised if flower crowns, bare feet, and other bohemian-chic style details make an appearance, as well as rustic design elements, like burlap, linen, and beautifully weathered salvaged wood.

For some couples, the best option is to upgrade to a new diamond ring due to a change in style preference or damage to the original ring. Consider enhancing the design
with layers of meaning by adding children’s birthstones, specialized filigree metalwork, inscriptions to the band or three-stone “past, present, and future” symbolism. FACTS diamond
#3 ARE ALL LABORATORY-GROWN DIAMONDS SUSTAINABLE?
To address the myths and misconceptions about the diamond industry, the Natural Diamond Council conducted research to better understand the questions consumers have about the industry and to provide them with straight answers. You can also read the full report here. A natural diamond is a finite mineral created by nature consisting of a crystalline form of pure carbon, the hardest naturally occurring substance and formed deep within the Earth between 1-3 billion years ago. The word “diamond” alone always means a natural diamond. A laboratory grown diamond, also called a synthetic diamond or lab created diamond, is a man-made product that mimics the physical characteristics and optical properties of a natural diamond but can be made in unlimited quantities. #1 CAN YOU DETECT A LABORATORY- GROWN DIAMOND FROM A NATURAL DIAMOND? Yes! Because they are mass-produced in weeks, laboratory-grown diamonds have specific growth-related patterns which can be easily detected using professional verification instruments. #2 HOW ARE NATURAL DIAMONDS ETHICALLY SOURCED? Under the Kimberley Process mandated by the United Nations and the World Trade Organization, all rough diamond trade is strictly regulated to ensure it is conflict-free. Other initiatives, such as the Responsible Jewellery Council, help warrant through 3rd party audited certifications that natural diamonds are sourced responsibly.
The energy-intensive process to make laboratory-grown diamonds requires the generation of temperatures close to 20% of the temperature of the Sun’s surface. With most manufacturing happening in China and India whose majority of grid electricity is generated from coal, it’s not possible to make a simplistic green claim. #4 WHAT HAVE BEEN THE PRICE TRENDS FOR LABORATORY-GROWN DIAMONDS? In 2016, a 1.5 carat laboratory-grown diamond cost $10,600 and in early 2023, it decreased to $2,445. Whilst they also fluctuated, over the last 25 years, natural diamonds have appreciated in price by approximately 3% on average each year. From 2016 to 2022, in some cases, the price of a 1.5 Carat laboratory-grown diamond has decreased by over 75%.!
