Tournament where the boys performed extremely well. Their form wavered slightly, as a result of lack of game time due to the weather. Their final game of the season saw a narrow defeat to Alleyn’s in the County Cup Final. These players have progressed fantastically through their age-group teams and will be a tremendous addition to the senior squads next season. The senior sides started the season with a superb pre- season tour to San Sebastián, both boys and staff enjoyed seeing how much potential the 1st and 2nd XIs had. This preparation proved worthwhile, as the 1st XI stormed into their first fixture of the year with a victory in the first round of the England Hockey Schools Cup against St John’s Leatherhead. Another good performance led the team to a comfortable victory over KCS Wimbledon in the first block fixture of the season. With confidence high, the next round of the cup saw the boys playing Kingston Grammar School, historically one of the strongest hockey schools in the country, away at Surbiton Hockey Club. A performance full of character and flair left the boys just short, losing 2-1 to a late goal from Kingston. Two home games in a row resulted in 5-0 and 2-1 victories over St John’s Leatherhead and Eltham College respectively. The season’s finale was a thrilling match against local rivals Alleyn’s, and with an enthusiastic crowd in attendance, the match did not disappoint, with the final score four goals apiece. The 2nd XI enjoyed a superb season, winning five out of their seven fixtures, and scoring over 30 goals, which included a five-game winning streak. Mr Flowers’ men enjoyed their favourite moment of the season in a 7-2 victory over Alleyn’s. The final event of the season was the St George’s Six-a-Side Competition. The Dulwich group who ventured down to Weybridge unfortunately finished just outside the cup and the competition, after a tough group including the hosts proved too strong. A huge thank you goes to all academic and operational staff who have worked so hard throughout the season to ensure the students had the very best facilities and coaching, allowing them to reach their potential. With a senior tour to Amsterdam and an U13 tour to San Sebastián in the Michaelmas term, we will aim to start the 2018-19 season in full flow.
