TRIPS & EXPEDITIONS
Day 1: Cheddar Gorge Aiken Furlong
Upon arrival in Cheddar, we excitedly changed into caving kit and donned helmets. We spent an hour trekking through fantastical chambers, marvelling at stalactites and stalagmites, before descending the terrifying 40ft ladder. Once through the boulder chamber squeeze, we headed with relief out into the blinding sunlight. After lunch in the sun, we entered the cave again for an educational tour with our guide, learning about rock formations and ascending Jacob’s Ladder for incredible views overlooking Cheddar Gorge and stretching all the way to the Bristol Channel. We had fun searching for wildlife on a beautiful, relaxing walk. Finally, we purchased cave-aged cheese and ice cream. Exhausted, we got back on the coach for the last leg of our journey, a one-hour coach ride to the Eden Project. No time to see the Eden Project today though, so we had pizza and went to bed in anticipation of the next day’s activities, after a bit of Love Island of course!
