the bull charges at him, the young man swivels then straightens his body, the bull’s horns narrowly missing his abdomen. his hands seem lost in the westward sun, until he brings them down, delicately placing two banderillas on the bull’s loin, victorious. el juli the young bull and matador train, its shoulders on his torso, as it encircles. he pivots from the hip, bending backwards and unwinding his arms, matador dance

threads of spider silk intersect over my rusty doorway.

his legs were skidding and bucking on the tarmac,

i saw a black (man) stopped by police,

his back was hunched and I could see his eyes
