THE K I N G ’ S BUS I NE S S

M arch, 1942

God sees, and knows, and cares. If our poor sense of justice seems out raged at times, what must God feel, who is perfection in all His attributes? God moves in a mysterious way. Let us recognize that fact, but He moves thus to perform His wonders, and none of the things He does is without pur pose.—J, H. Hunter. 20. Aflame for God “Behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed” (Ex. 3:2). The ordinary Christian means no more to the world than a cold bush meant to Moses among so many in the wilderness. The average church man is just another fellow, and no one heeds his presence, but the Chris tian ablaze with the fire of God will get attention soon enough. And it is this fire we need if we are to be taken seriously by our fellow man. One soul a f l a m e in a generation—how sweet it is!—A. W. Tozer. 21. Life at His Disposal “ I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service” (Rom. 12:1).

The gospel does not command us to do anything in order to obtain life, but it bids us to dive that which An other has done. . . . In believing, we cease to work for pardon—that we may work from it; and what incentive to work, or source of joy in working, can be greater than an ascertained and realized forgiveness? ' The more we are able to realize a present par don, the more we shall wish to live so as to please Him. —Andrew Bonar. 16. Conquerors! “In all these things we are more than conquerors t h r o u g h him that loved us” (Rom. 8:37).» In Christ we more than conquerors are In battles near and battles far, For Satan is a conquered foe Through Him whose mighty name we know. Lift up the standard of His name! Put all the hosts of hell to shame! Let not His banner suffer loss Who won our victory on the cross. —Selected. 17. Made in His Image “Let us make man in our Image, after our likeness” (Gen. 1:26). The likeness was marred and the image lost when sin came in, separat ing by moral death the creature from his Creator. But God has not been thwarted, for Christ is the true image and likeness of God. We have borne the image of the earthly, a mayed vessel indeed, but we are to* bear the image of the heavenly, to be like Christ; .and this was God’s intention from the beginning. —J. T. Mawson. 18. Powerful Prayer “But we will give ourselves con tinually to prayer, and to the .ministry of the word” (Acts 6:4). “When God has something v e r y great to accomplish for His church,” says Jonathan Edwards, “it is His will that there should precede it, the ex traordinary prayers of His people, as is manifest by Ezekiel 36:37, together with the context. . . . He will begin by remarkably pouring out the spirit of grace and supplication (Zech. 12:10)." Let Christians ponder well the words of this man under whose ministry the Great Awakening began! —Selected. 19. Where We Cannot See “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” (Heb. 11:1). Faith means that we believe where we cannot see. It is hard to account for many things that are happening in the world today. vVe are well aware of that, but we can know that
