He earned his doctorate from Colorado State Univer - sity in 1974 and taught at South Dakota State and University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire. In 1985, he began his career at Central. Hood, who’s also from Spokane, studied criminal justice at Washington State University. She worked as a probation officer and cared for her sons. An SNL Moment One Monday in 2000, Robert Carbaugh arrived on campus to find a pile of emails in his inbox. He’d had a brush with fame over the weekend. A Saturday Night Live sketch imagining Al Gore and George W. Bush as a presidential odd couple featured Will Ferrell as Bush reading a Nickelodeon magazine, and Darrell Hammond as Gore reading a textbook. “Sure enough, the cover of the book is facing the cam - era. It’s my book, Carbaugh, International Economics ,” Carbaugh said. “How he came up with that book, I have no idea.” Watch the clip at youtu.be/oMCKaBku83U, starting at 4:08.
