Our story began in 1933 when her grandfather, inventor and entrepreneur Joe Goldberg founded Ex-Cell in Chicago’s historic Movie Row district near Wabash Avenue and Roosevelt Road. Initially, the company specialized in manufacturing sand urns and cigarette smoking stands for movie theater lobbies, serving the vibrant Motion Picture Industry with products like carbon arc lamps, projectors, vending machines, and other theater essentials. In the 1940s, Joe’s son Morton Goldberg joined the business after serving in World War II, expanding Ex-Cell’s product line to meet the needs of a growing commercial market. This commitment to innovation and quality became the foundation of our success. Today, Ex-Cell Kaiser continues to thrive as a leader in decorative waste and recycling solutions for indoor and outdoor public spaces. Our growth is fueled by innovation, advanced technology, and skilled craftsmanship. Investments in high-tech robotics and precision laser cutting have enabled us to automate key manufacturing processes while preserving the originality and expertise that define our products. Plastic can only be recycled once or twice before being cycled down due to degradation of material. A “one-and- done” type of material that goes into landfills at the end of its service life.
