The post will contribute to and support Estates in the key areas of: • Strategic and operational development, planning and implementation at University and Estates levels • The development of the University estate • People management and human resource planning • Financial and resources management • Performance measurement and continuous improvement • Effective partnerships within Estates, the University and with external stakeholders. JOB DESCRIPTION Purpose To support the COO and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Group Development and Resources) in the strategic development of the Groups’ Estate (in the UK and beyond). To ensure the provision of professional construction and project management services to the University and Group. To deliver the Masterplan and Estates strategy in order to implement the strategic aims of the University in the Estate’s development. This should ensure that (re)development is forward thinking, has student satisfaction at its heart and is future proof. To proactively manage the Capital Programme ensuring affordability, value for money and alignment with the University’s financial resources. To work with the Director of Estates and particularly the Assistant Director - Customer Service and Assistant Director – Operations and Maintenance to ensure integration of operability and cost effective operation into design and a seamless transition from development into occupation and live use, as well as achievement of environmental objectives.

ESTATES The Estate Development team is responsible for the delivery of the Group’s extensive and ambitious Capital Programme. Having in the last five years delivered a step change in accommodation, the University is committed to continuing to invest heavily in its estate. The post sits alongside and works very closely and collaboratively with the Group Director of Estates and reports directly to the COO and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Group Development and Resources). To deliver the vision of the Corporate Plan and the Estate Masterplan it is expected that the spend on projects over the next five years will be significant; building on the major redevelopment programme currently underway. In addition to the University’s direct spend; the post holder may be actively involved in projects which are being delivered for the university by developers using lease or other arrangements. To successfully deliver this programme and to be able to provide strong management reporting will require that the team’s methods of management and delivery be continually reviewed and strengthened - in line industry best practice to ensure a best in class delivery. The holder of this post will be expected to take the lead on this. The post holder will deliver the core values of Estates to explicitly enhance: • Customer satisfaction; • High quality design standards and buildings operations;

• High quality facilities maintenance and services; • Safety and security of students, staff and property;
