TIME CAPSULE CEREMONY 2000 ~ 2025 ~ 2050
Students and staff at JMI came together for a special moment in school history as we opened a time capsule sealed in 2000 and introduced a new one to be opened in 2050. The ceremony was filled with excitement, laughter, and a few surprises as we reflected on how much has changed—and what has stayed the same. Inside the 2000 capsule, students discovered Pokémon cards, an NSYNC poster, an old flip phone, a ShopRite circular, newspapers highlighting a Yankees World Series win, a Furby, and even a Flag Day poem. The crowd laughed at the idea of life without smartphones and cheered at the mention of Harry Potter! In contrast, our 2025 capsule features a copy of Because of Mr. Terupt, a student yearbook, a snapshot of our current students and staff, and mini pop culture items—from Crocs to a Stanley water bottle. We look forward to welcoming everyone back in 2050 to see how today’s memories stand the test of time!
