ACADEMY HIGHLIGHTS Lemelson-MIT Program
With a $7,500 grant, the Academy’s Lemelson-MIT team is creating a sustainable, low-cost system to reduce Raritan River pollution using biochar and aquatic plants. Their solution avoids costly, energy-intensive methods while promoting environmental impact. Edison High School Robotics (Faraday) Faraday won two 1st place Motivate Awards, placed 1st regionally, 4th at States as a finalist alliance, and earned a $2,000 Gene Haas Foundation grant in the FIRST Tech Challenge. STEAM Tank Challenge
Academy sophomores won third place and $1,000 in the NJSBA STEAM Tank Challenge for their mosquito-control project, Swarm Sentry, using fermented rice water as an attractant.
ACADEMY TRIPS New Jersey Institute of Technology: Junior STEM students tour advanced engineering labs, learn about cutting-edge research, and gain insights into college pathways in STEM fields. Stevens Institute of Technology: Sophomore and junior STEM students explore real-world applications of chemical engineering during an immersive visit to the Department of Chemical Engineering interacting with faculty. Homasote Factory: Freshman STEM students tour the facility to observe sustainable manufacturing processes firsthand and connect classroom learning to innovative industrial applications in environmental engineering.

COHORT EXPANSION Starting in the 2025-2026 school year, the Academy is expanding from 24 to 48 students and launching a new hybrid AP Biology prep course. The course will follow an A/B schedule with built-in office hours to support the growng cohort.
