It's been a few months since Lumiere's official launch – how has the journey been so far for you and Melissa? The journey has been powerful, emotional, and honestly life-changing. We didn't just open a centre; we created a space that feels like home for families who have long been searching for a place to belong. There have been tears, laughter, and moments of beautiful chaos that remind us we're doing something real. It's emotional, everything we dreamed it would be, and much more. Melissa and I are just two sisters born and proudly raised in Toxteth. We have a lot of love to give and professional and personal experience to share, which has shaped Lumiere. I'd never have imagined telling you that I'd be here a few years back. We complement each other very well and have been told we should do a behind-the-scenes.
What response have you had from the community since opening the doors at Lumiere? Are there any moments that have stuck with you? The response has been overwhelming in the most beautiful way. Families have told us they've never felt more seen, more welcome. Some come through the doors and burst into tears, never because they're sad, but because they've finally found a space that understands them and their children without judgment, feeling overwhelmed. One moment that will stay with me forever is seeing a young boy who hadn't smiled in weeks burst into laughter on our trampoline while his mum stood back and just cried. She said, "I haven't seen him this free in months." That moment is why we do what we do. Also, a young girl named Annabelle, who had never stepped into a soft play area before due to overwhelming feelings, was just 4 1/2. Annabelle first experienced soft play at Lumiere and is now a regular with her brother, Jude, who also loves our soft play area. We have so many beautiful stories to share.
